Chester was taking the lead as I was focused solely on breathing evenly. Gosh! I knew that this would hurt! Ang dami kaya naming binasa ni Chester na books about child birth (na akala mo hindi pa namin nabasa before because of school) and raising a child... But gosh! The real thing was just one unimaginable pain after another!

I was doing the breathing exercise with my eyes closed when I felt Chester holding my hand. I opened my eyes and our eyes met in an instant.

"I'm not gonna ask if it hurts."

"Yes. Do that," I said as I bit my lower lip. "This really hurts."

Instead of telling me words that probably would be of no help, I just felt him kissing the side of my head and whispered 'I love you.' That didn't help alleviate the pain but... it felt nice. It felt nice to once again hear that he loves me. Makes it a tiny bit easier to go through this excruciating pain. Because that's the reason why we're doing this—because we love each other and we wanted to build a family together.

We'd be so good at this.

I just knew that we'd be good parents to this kid.

"15 mins daw," sabi ni Chester.

"Okay," I replied. "Can you please tell them to bring steak?"

"What?"

"Steak," I said. "I want to eat steak."

Nakakunot ang noo niya. "Okay..." he said, looking at me weirdly. "Medium rare, right?"

Tumango ako. "Please remind Rhys sa mashed potato," I said as I felt yet another contraction coming my way. Humigpit iyong pagkakahawak ko sa kamay ni Chester. Good thing wala naman siyang plan maging surgeon because if he does? Gosh! Kanina ko pa pinipisil iyong kamay niya whenever I'd feel contractions. Wala naman akong naririnig na reklamo from his part apart from him saying that this was shared pain. Ugh! If shared pain, I'd like him to go through the actual child birth instead of me.

Although he did promise that he'd be the one to take care of the baby at night so that I could catch some sleep. That was bare minimum, I knew, but also, a lot of other people do not get even the bare minimum... so I feel lucky.

"My baby's having a baby!" Mama said nang dumating siya.

I gave her a weak smile. I felt like puro pawis na iyong ulo ko sa sobrang sakit ng contractions ko. But I didn't want to worry them. I was fine. Nandito naman si Chester sa tabi ko.

"Where's Rhys?" I asked.

"Getting your steak," Mama said.

"Oh... Right. I forgot," I replied. Isa rin sa mga changes sa akin sa pregnancy iyong pagiging makakalimutin ko. I surely did hope na 'wag naman 'tong permanent because ang hirap naman if biglang may malimutan ako na patient habang nasa work ako!

My parents just stayed in the room. Kapag papasok iyong doctor, though, ay lalabas si Papa. It's awkward for me, but pretty sure it's more awkward for him! Mabuti na lang at wala si Rhys dito because that's going to be even more awkward!

"I think we're ready," the doctor said. Gosh. That took 16 hours!

I looked at Chester. "I'm scared, but excited," I told him.

He leaned in and kissed my forehead. "You know if I could give birth instead, I really would, right?" he asked, looking straight into my eyes.

I nodded. "I know," I replied, knowing that he really meant it.

This guy, through the course of my pregnancy, did ridiculous things just to keep me happy. If that's not love... I truly do not know what is!

The nurses prepped me. Si Chester iyong sasama sa akin sa delivery room. I think we'd be fine kasi ang nabasa namin online, some guys just faint inside. Hindi naman mangyayari kay Chester 'yon because he's a doctor. Baka nga tumingin pa siya, e! But I made him promise na hindi siya titingin doon! That would probably ruin our sexy fun times kapag nakita niya iyon all stretched out while giving birth!
