There was something so hauntingly beautiful about the garden's late in the evening at the Abbey. You could hear a pin drop from the top floor down to the mossy brick flooring. The shadows dancing in the corridors and the moonlight casting down on the Baphomet statue. It was awfully warm still even though it was midnight but this brought even more comfort to Dahlia Amato. The warmth often reminded her of the hugs her mother gave her before her untimely passing.

Granted most of her time now was spent assisting her father with his duties as Cardinal. But there was still that overwhelming sense of loneliness. It was the reason she spent her free time helping future siblings with their studies. She thought it would lessen the ache but it only grew worse with time and it seemed time was all she ever had left. It wasn't the type of loneliness one could fill with meaningless activities or dull conversations over lunch.

This loneliness filled her entire soul and brought an ache that worsened over time. Dahlia wasn't quite sure when she first noticed it but ever since then it was all she could think of. Her father thought it was a silly notion which rang an alarm in the back of her head. How does he not feel so alone without his wife? Her own mother?

Dahlia grabbed her belongings and adjusted her habit that had gone a little askew. It wasn't worth dwelling on the feeling if there wasn't a solution. Plus the mornings were usually busy  with paperwork and the siblings hounding her for help.

"I'm sorry I'm late, I didn't hear my alarm this morning and

"I'm sorry I'm late, I didn't hear my alarm this morning and..." Dahlia came barreling in through the office doors of her father. Her books were slightly toppling over with papers sticking out from every which way. There was a tinge of pink flushing brightly on her cheeks from racing through the corridors. The disappointment in the man's face didn't come as a shock to her. Running late wasn't unlike her at all. It was usually due to her 'silent' alarm or her racing to grab a coffee from the kitchen before it ran out.

"You know la figlia this is the third time you're late this week" He had just finished his phone call with Sister Imperator and was jotting down some last minute notes. The call was an unexpected surprise, one that included his daughter of all reasons. Granted he figured it might've been to see how the abbey was fairing after Cardinal Copia had left. He was an exceptional young man and held the second most employee of the month awards. They weren't sure if anyone could hold a flame next to him.

"I'll see about fixing my phone father. I thought I set it last night." Was it a little fib? Most definitely. Dahlia had to sneak in a trip to the kitchens to grab a coffee. After all, there was absolutely no way she'd survive the day after staying awake till three am. It wasn't like there was an endless supply of energy drinks hiding in the fridge.

"I actually have news for you." Her ears had perked up at the mention. Not much happened around here except Cardinal Copia leaving a few months back. But Dahlia didn't associate much with him as their paths never crossed. She took the seat across from her fathers desk and set down the stack of books from her lessons.

"News about?" Her curiosity was eating away at her. He had glanced up at his daughter sitting at the edge of her seat. There wasn't a doubt in his mind that she wouldn't be able to handle it. If Sister Imperator thought she'd be the best for the task, he wasn't going to question her authority.

"Sister Imperator called. She wishes for us to travel to her abbey at the end of this week." He glanced back down at his paperwork. The only concern he had was how his daughter would take the news. Handling it? She would do exceptional in that area. But the news might come as a...shock.

"I doubt she just wants us over for dinner and to chat. What for?" Dahlia knew better than to assume that there wasn't some kind of motive. To travel from Italy for simply a dinner would be outrageous especially with how busy they were.

"Hopefully this news doesn't alarm you. Sister wishes to keep the bloodline of Cardinal Copia strong within the church and has selected you to become his prime mover." His words echoed loudly in the room, nearly taunting Dahlia as a fun joke. Prime mover? It wasn't as if she hadn't heard the words before. They were important to the vital movement of the church but the last Papa hadn't taken one. As far as Dahlia knew, they weren't arrangements made by higher clergy members.

"I'm sorry, I think I heard you incorrectly father. Prime mover?" It couldn't be possible but then again, Sister wanted the Cardinal to succeed no matter what. To make matters worse, the dull ache in her chest grew every second at the mention of it. This was completely wrong, a horrible idea. Maybe with the right person it would be great but not with her, not Dahlia.

"I don't speak nonsense bambina. This is an honor from the church, Satan himself has given you this wonderful opportunity. We will be leaving promptly at eight am on Friday. They will have a room ready for you to stay in once we arrive." His words felt final in the decision. The decision that was being made against her. Dahlia felt detached from the world in that moment as she stood to leave. How was she to question Lucifer's wishes? If this was what he wanted of her. she should be arms open wide ready. There wasn't a choice in the matter and the pain grew deeper within her.

"Yes I understand father. If you don't mind, I'll go start packing." He gave her a curt nod and a 'go go' motion of his hand. Paperwork was the last thing on her mind truly and if anything, she probably would've just stared at it like an idiot. How could she become prime mover for a man she barely even knew? Yes, he seemed friendly enough maybe even a little bit shy. But Dahlia wanted someone who was confident. strong and maybe a little feisty sometimes. Everything that she wasn't to balance things out and more importantly, she wanted to find love herself. Not just out of convenience or that was decided by someone power hungry.

Either way looking at things, Dahlia Amato had to pretend to be strong in this moment. There was no use fighting it - what difference does it make? It's not like she had anyone that cared enough about her to argue alongside her or wanted her. To be prime mover was an honor in any case and she'd just have to pretend that it was the best thing happening in her life.
