Cardinal Copia was walking down the corridor with determination and slight excitement. Most of his time as of late had been overrun with paperwork, meetings and constantly trying to prove himself to Papa Nihil. Evidently there wasn't much improvement on that end but things took time. Just like how time would improve his relationship with the prime mover as Sister Imperator insisted.

It also didn't help that he was painfully awkward when it came to their interactions. There was something intimating about Miss Amato then most of the sisters at the church. Copia couldn't figure out what it was or maybe it was an excuse on why he'd kept their outings short. The two of them had exchanged brief words and an occasional breakfast date, if you could even call it that.

However there was a metaphorical fire lit under his ass that morning after Sister Imperator informed him of Dahlia's failing efforts at Latin. Now that was something that could get the ball rolling in his court! He was experienced in teaching past clergy members so he assumed it wouldn't be any different with his fiancée.

Knocking lightly on the door, Copia wrung his hands together. The slight squeak of the gloves making him flinch as he waited. He was convincing himself that perhaps it had been a bad time or she had already disappeared by now. But before Copia could turn away, the door creaked open revealing his exhausted fiancée.

"Ah yes hello, tesoro! I was wondering if you'd like to accompany me for breakfast." His nervous demeanor not going unnoticed by Dahlia who was holding back a yawn. No matter how much time they'd spent together, Cardinal still seemed as anxious as the first time.

"Oh of course, Cardinal. Give me a moment to grab my cover up." Dahlia smiling as she slowly closed the door on Copia for privacy. Her finger was still ringless from the night before and not to mention a certain fire ghoul was still occupying the bed.

Quickly Dahlia raced over to Dewdrop to shake him awake to warn him of Copia's arrival. However waking a fire ghoul up wasn't pleasant especially when they'd just fell asleep about two hours prior. His tail flickering in agitation, eyes narrowed but beginning to soft at the sight of her standing over him.

"Mhm you have to let me rest longer if you want me to play with you again, kitten." His proposition was extremely tempting especially with how his voice deepened after waking up. Unfortunately for them, the Cardinal was just a few feet away waiting patiently for her company.

"As wonderful as that sounds Dew. Copia is outside the door and I have to leave." Dahlia huffed while grabbing the short black cape in the closet. She had already thrown on a dress to answer the door and was now buckling her Mary Jane's as Dew was registering what was said.

"I don't mind you staying but I imagine the other ghouls are looking for you by now." Her tone was hopeful that maybe he'd be there waiting when she'd get back. But there was no telling how long Cardinal would be keeping her especially as the ceremony grew closer.

"We have rehearsals with Copia tonight before our cycle starts so I'll have to leave." Dew motioned his mate to come closer to him. She sat on the edge of the bed where he was resting against the pillows comfortably. The ghoul pulled her face down to meet his in a quick kiss before promising to meet as soon as he could sneak away.

Breakfast was excruciatingly painful as Cardinal Copia had discovered how much she'd been failing at Latin

Breakfast was excruciatingly painful as Cardinal Copia had discovered how much she'd been failing at Latin. Not that his company wasn't welcomed especially if Dahlia wanted to make it seem like things were normal. But trying to enjoy a toasty warm croissant as Copia quizzed her with his Latin flashcards wasn't her idea of a relaxing morning. Nonetheless, the gesture was very sweet except it wasn't doing much help much to the Cardinal's frustration.

"No no, caerimonia means ceremony sorella." Cardinal flipped the flashcard once more over. Even though Dahlia knew it was growing frustrating for him, he never once gave up and that was very admirable. However if there was one thing she learned through Latin classes was how close it was to Italian sometimes. Maybe that was what messed her up when trying to write in it or jumbling up the translations.

"I'm sorry this is difficult for you, Cardinal." Dahlia slumped in defeat, the croissant left abandoned and coffee gone cold. There was a part of her wanting to understand Latin to impress Copia but that possibility seemed awfully far away. Or maybe it was just she felt she owned it to him since growing very close to one of his ghouls.

"Oh please call me Copia, tesoro. I really don't mind helping you succeed! We have plenty of time for you to master it." Copia's hopefulness created a deep pit in the bottom of her stomach. There was that guilt gnawing at her again and the nausea coming up. But trying to appear nonchalant, Dahlia smiled lightly and nodded animatedly.

"I appreciate the help nonetheless." Dahlia swallowed back the nausea and put the thoughts at the back of her mind. Dew was determined to help get the both of them out of this mess with Aether's help but could he? Was it even possible with Sister Imperator keeping such a close eye on things to go her way? Plus Copia seemed to be getting comfortable with idea of her becoming his prime mover. Then again, Dahlia doubted he questioned anything Sister said like much of the clergy did. If they would've known the situation, would they blindly keep following the words of the Imperator? Shouldn't Papa Nihil be having a say in this or was he just also bewitched by her? Who was Dahlia kidding, of course Papa was kept on a leash by Sister Imperator just like Copia.
