one month until ceremony

Cirrus had escorted Dahlia earlier that morning to Sister Imperator's office for the dreaded dress fitting. Cumulus was also waiting holding the garment bag containing the gown Imperator had meticulously chosen. Back when Dahlia was younger, she imagined choosing the perfect dress with her mother. The excitement on both of their faces when she'd find the best one and giggle about it like schoolgirls. Now it was just Sister Imperator gushing over how beautiful it was, how it accented her body perfectly.

Not that it wasn't gorgeous, Dahlia would've gladly worn it if she was marrying the right man; in this case ghoul. Cirrus attempted to make the situation a bit lighter with her animated personality. As much as she appreciated it, Sister was sucking the little joyous energy she could have.

"I think the Cardinal will be very pleased with our choice." The Imperator adjusted the veil once again. It had pleased her that the woman was making the correct choice in continuing with the marriage. Not a word about that fire ghoul had come up this week lifting that weight on her shoulders. All it took was a firm hand in this abbey for people to listen to you.

"You did wonderful, thank you Sister Imperator." Dahlia sounded dead. Her exhaustion evident with the circles under her eyes. Dew had become concerned with how much she was waking up in the middle of the night shivering and crying from the nightmares. Cardinal Copia didn't seem evil but the dreams nightly were saying different and it was terrifying her.

"You'll have to do something about your face, dear. You look dead." The disappointment evident in Sister's tone. Both the ghoulettes grimacing as they could feel Dahlia's emotions rolling off in waves. She was anxious, fearful and dreading every moment in the abbey. Unless Dew was beside her then Dahlia felt paranoid walking around in case the Imperator went back on her word.

"I apologize, I haven't been sleeping well." Dahlia sighed. The reflection in front of her haunting her while standing in the dreaded wedding dress. A knock at the door echoing loudly around them, Sister Imperator waving off to Cumulus to answer it. Dahlia sucked in a breath as Dew and Aether entered the room.

"Cardinal said you needed us to pick something up for him?" Aether smiled in Dahlia's direction in greeting. She began to fidget as Dew's scanned her from head to toe. The tension in the room growing simnifically especially as Sister Imperator noticed the stoic fire ghoul. A smirk grew on the woman's face before deciding to make a snide comment.

"We were just discussing how beautiful our prime mover is for her wedding to Cardinal Copia." Sister Imperator raised an eyebrow before looking at the fire ghoul. "Don't you think so Dewdrop?" The sarcasm dripping from her voice. Dahlia could sense the joy in the woman over toying with her mate. His tail flickered angrily as the Imperator circled back to her desk to grab the item for Copia.

"Yes, you look beautiful kit- Dahlia." Dew wanted to tear the woman's head off. His anger causing the heat to rise in the room. Aether jabbing him with his elbow in attempt to not cause too much trouble. Dew hissed lowly before looking back at his mate whose attention was completely focused on him. Never had he felt so speechless before, which was hard to accomplish for him, but Dahlia truly did look gorgeous. His chest filling with pride at how stunning his little mate looked standing there.

"Our future Papa will be so pleased to have you." Sister Imperator tried drilling in her point further, staring down at the fire ghoul. His aggravation noticeable in how fast his tail was flickering, his clenched fists at his sides. Aether huffed taking the wrapped package waiting for Cardinal Copia. Her attempts at pissing off the fire ghoul was going quite well but wouldn't help for rehearsals later.

"We should get this to the Cardinal now, thank you Sister Imperator." Aether turned before grabbing Dew's sleeve to tug him out the room. If they waited any longer, the room might've been set on fire and all of them would be definitely executed then. Dew glanced back at Dahlia silently trying to convey that he'd see her later.

"You will have dinner with the Cardinal tonight and then in the morning, we have a meeting together with a florist." Sister Imperator gestured for the ghoulettes to assist Dahlia in removing the gown. Both of them rushing to begin untying the tight corset allowing her to breath better thankfully. Her schedule would become extremely busy with the ceremony so close now. The fear of being married growing more each day. Dew was adamant they'd do something but had come up empty handed with possible ideas.

"Make sure you're on time, Miss. Amato. You need to start acting the part before it's official." The Imperator sat down, flicking through the full agenda for the month. Dahlia grimaced as Cirrus finished untying the corset and nodded slowly.

It was her duty to the church to marry Cardinal Copia. In order to keep Dew alive then she'd do anything in the world to do so.
