It was incredibly difficult to hide a relationship within the clergy especially for a fire ghoul newly bonded with their mate. It irked him that Dahlia had to cover the mark with several layers of concealer or had to wear a turtleneck. However that had become suspicious during these warmer months. Both had to sneak around even more carefully after Aether noticed a few sisters following after Dew.

There was something thrilling to Dew about hiding behind the church pillars or empty corridors. Not that Dahlia minded with how aroused she got previously when they snuck out after mass and nearly got caught by Cardinal Copia again. But it didn't take a genius to realize Sister Imperator was becoming very suspicious the last few weeks.

From the new duties around the church to the meetings with Copia to go over wedding preparations, Dahlia found herself having to be further away from Dew. Leaving the Imperator's office that afternoon, she tried to take some deep breaths to ground herself. They had just finished getting measurements for the wedding dress, thankfully it was done and the rest of the day was free for now. There was no telling if the Imperator would bombard her with something else like usual lately.

"You look ready to explode, kiddo." Aether chuckled. It had been a while since seeing Dahlia without the Imperator dragging her down the corridor or without his brother. He had been extremely upset with Dew after hearing about them bonding but knew it was beyond their control. Aether should've known better, however now time was ticking and all of them had to figure out some kind of plan.

"Aether, how rare is it for someone to spontaneously combust?" Dahlia huffed before joining the ghoul down the corridor. Aether chuckled at the human who looked absolutely wrecked from stress. His eyes taking a sneaky glance at the covered mark on her neck, covered poorly to any ghoul but to any human it was  like unblemished skin.

"Please don't, Dew will rip my head clear off." Aether shuddered at the thought. His brother had significantly calmed down the past few weeks thankfully. There was no random bursts of flames or childish bickering, well there was but nobody was close to being ripped apart anymore.

"He's not that bad, Aeth." Dahlia giggled. Certainly Dew had his moments but could be equally calm when necessary. Both of them turned the corner into the ghoul's corridor debating over who was the most feral of the bunch. Dew had significantly calmed down so it seemed like Swiss was taking the top spot.

"Was Dew expecting you this afternoon?" Aether unlocked the door, gesturing for the human to walk through first. Dahlia nodded before being tackled into a crushing hug by the ghoulettes who abandoned their intense game of poker with the rest of the bunch. Lately, she had been sneaking into the ghoul's corridor whenever possible to avoid the sisters little stalking game.

"You're going to suffocate her, let go." Dew shooed away the ghoulettes. Both glaring at him before returning back to the table to finish up the game. His arms admittedly wrapping around his mate to pull her closer and leaning down to meet her lips in a searing kiss. Ever since bonding, Dew had calmed a little with his desire to constantly be fucking her. Instead he had been more interested in getting to know her better and overall just being affectionate.

"You seem tense, kitten. What happened?" Dew settled on the couch with Dahlia resting in his lap, arms wrapped around his neck. It was difficult to hide any kind of emotions with him now, sometimes it was beneficial but she didn't want to put her stress on anyone else.

"Just had my dress measurements done today." Dahlia rolled her eyes. The engagement ring sitting heavily on her hand that was only ever worn when absolutely necessary. If the two of them were alone, the ring was tossed to the side and completely forgotten about. However it was still a big thorn in their sides, Aether had come up with some ideas but none of it seemed plausible enough yet.

"Aether and I are still working on some ideas but we'll figure it out." Dew held on his mate tighter, nuzzling the mark on her neck. She had faith that they could somehow get out of this and hadn't stopped praying to the Dark Lord for some assistance. Aether was incredibly smart, Dew was relentless when he wanted something so something was bound to work out in the end.

"I'll wait as long as I have to if it means I get to just be yours." Dahlia whispered while placing a hand on the side of his face. He started kissing alongside his mate's jaw easing her into forgetting about the stress of the ceremony. Her lips finding his before parting them to allow him to slip his tongue into her mouth.

"You two better find a room fast, we just had that couch cleaned." Swiss groaned. Dahlia's cheeks flushed a light pink as Dew hissed at his brother for interrupting them. Being in the ghoul's corridor was slightly better except for the lack of privacy sometimes. Dew guided his mate towards his room as Swiss started shouting at Mountain for cheating that round, the drummer throwing his cards at the other in protest.

"I'm starting to have a feeling nobody plays nicely at these games." Dahlia giggled. Dew's room was very comforting to the human especially when bundled up his blankets surrounded by his scent. The warmth reminded her of the summers in Italy or the hugs given to her from her late mother. She liked to think her mother would've liked Dew, his antics would've made her laugh for sure or possibly playfully scold him.

"Swiss cheats all the time but blames it on someone else." Dew shrugged. His mate already starting to hide under the covers like usual. It was nice to not feel so alone in this unknown world, very domestic sometimes and it took Dew some getting used to. Dahlia was so soft and fragile unlike ghoulettes and it took a lot of control to not break her. But he was willing to do anything for her, no matter what it was. Not that he'd tell his siblings about that in fear they'd think he was loosing his intimating presence. However sometimes he just didn't care especially when his mate was holding out a hand in search for him and pouting for him to get under the covers with her.

Dew gladly climbed into bed pulling his little human close to him. Sometimes he wondered when she'd be comfortable seeing his true form and not just the glamour he keeps up for her. Dahlia never seemed to mind his tail but to actually see his horns and not just the fake shinier ones from his mask? Dew worried about it often but tried to push it aside for now. They both had so much more to deal with that something like that could come much later.
