Chapter Sixteen: The Rescue

NOVA'S P.O.V

  We were still trying to get water out of the boat,but it wasn't working.
"Come on guys try to get the water out!" Jesse shouted. "Come on Elvis!" Jesse continued.

  Jesse tried climbing the stone walls of the cove,but failed.
"I can't..get a grip!" Jesse said panting.
"Jesse look!" Nadine said referring to the fire spreading.
"We're trapped Jesse!" Elvis screamed.
"Just make a U-turn you guys! Let's head for the opening!" Jesse said.
We were using the ores to push ourselves away from the rocks.  After we succeeded with that,we paddled away to the opening.

  I saw the Nastelane from afar. That's dads boat.
Glen,Annie and my dad were on the boat.
I heard the Greenwoods screaming Jesse and Elvis' name.

  "Guys it's closing!" I screamed paddling the ore as quickly as possible.
"Hurry!" Jesse shouted.
"Come on! We gotta get out of here!" Nadine screamed.
Just as we finished shouting and screaming,the fire closed us in. We were now trapped.
"No!" Jesse screamed.
"The flames are getting closer!" Elvis said.

  Elvis dipped his hands into the water and took them out. Elvis's hands were now covered in sticky oil.

Elvis turned to look at Jesse,scared.
"Jesse..Jesse if you get me out of this, I swear I won't do anything to hurt you anymore. Please just get me out of this,please.." Elvis said on the verge of tears.
"It's okay..it's alright. I'm not gonna let anything happen to you" Jesse said side hugging Elvis.
"We're gonna drown.." Elvis said.
"It's gonna be alright okay.." Jesse said patting Elvis on the back.
"Okay.." Elvis answered.

  I heard some chopping noises and looked around.
"What is that?!" Nadine shouted.

  A bright light shined onto us and we saw a rescue helicopter above us.
"OVER HERE!" Jesse screamed.
"HERE!" I said waving arms into the air.
"WE'RE OVER HERE!" Nadine shouted also waving her arms in the air.
"HERE! WE'RE HERE!" Elvis shouted.
They finally noticed us as they came closer and descended the harness.

  Jesse was helping Elvis put on the harness as Elvis spoke.
"You're the best brother I've ever had!" Elvis said.
"I'm the only brother you've ever had!" Jesse responded.
I silently chucked at their actions.
"I'm scared!" Elvis said.
"It's fine! It's just like bungee jumping!" Jesse said.
"I never went bungee jumping—" Elvis said,but got caught off as they brought him back to the helicopter.
"Nadine!Go next!" I shouted.
"Okay!.." Nadine said unsure.

  "Hurry the fires getting closer!" I screamed.
Lord..these rescuers were letting the harness descend real slow.
Jesse grabbed onto the harness and gave it to Nadine.
Me and Jesse helped Nadine onto the harness as they brought her up.

  "Nova,you're gonna be next. Okay?" Jesse said.
"But what about you?!" I question as they let the harness descend again.
"Just put on the harness!" He shouted.
I quickly put on the harness as they brought me up.

  "Guys! Please get Jesse!" I said.
"Hurry!" Jesse shouted from below.
The boat started sinking as Jesse got deeper into the water
"JESSE!" Elvis screamed.
"Jesse!" I shouted in worry.
"Come on Jesse!" Nadine shouted.

Jesse finally got onto the harness,but we had to quickly evacuate the area because the fire was spreading towards us.
"Hang on Jesse!" Nadine screamed.
"Just hold onto the harness!" I shouted.
He was so close to reaching the helicopter.
"You're almost here Jess! You can make it!" I screamed.
Jesse was now as close as he could be.
The rescuer was reaching out his hand out as much as he could,but Jesse slipped.
"JESSE!" I screamed.
"No!" Nadine shouted in disbelief.
"NOO!" Elvis screamed.

Jesse went back into the water.
Me,Nadine and Elvis were crying and screaming,but we had to go back.

All of a sudden we saw Jesse swim back to the surface and we all gave slight smiles.

"We gotta go back down there!" I said to the helicopter captain.
"No there's too much smoke i gotta find somewhere to land" He said.
"Get these kids back inside the aircraft!" The rescuer said.
"Stop! My boyfriend is still there!" I said trying to resist.
Elvis also kept resisting and screaming. As much as we wanted to help,they wouldn't let us.

Jesse went back into the water as the helicopter started going the opposite direction of him.
"No..Jesse.." I said.
Nadine and Elvis were also saddens that we couldn't get to Jesse right now.

They got us onto a save and rescue boat and we got the the Nastelane.
The rescuers gave us towels and sat us down.
"Dad! Jesse!" I shouted standing back up.
I turned back to Elvis and Nadine.
"Guys Jesses okay!" I said smiling.
"They did it!" Elvis said.
"Jesse!" Nadine smiled.
Annie came over to us and checked on the three of us.
"Are you guys alright?" Annie asked as Glen got Elvis from the boat.
I got off the boat with Nadine and went straight to Jesse.
"Oh my god.." I said hugging him.
"You're okay right?" I continued.
"Yeah..yeah. It's fine I'm alright" Jesse responded hugging me back.

  The rescue boat left as Annie and Glen thanked them.
I broke off the hug with Jesse and I went up to dad as he steered the boat.
I hugged him from the side and hid my head in the crook of his neck.
My dad hugged me back and rubbed the back of my head in comfort.

"You're safe now.." Dad said.
"Yeah.." I said smiling.
