Marlene sought of forgot what she was doing, she had gotten another drink, then another but she didn't know where the others had gone. She'd seen Terra and Musa not that long ago, she knew that much. Aisha hadn't come back from getting paper towels. Marlene hadn't even seen Stella all night and she had no clue where Bloom had gone so she went out to the dance floor.

She was swaying to the beat of the music, her face washed in the red, blue, and pink party lights, letting them wash her away entirely. Her eyes were wide and a smile was on her face as she danced along with everyone around her. She didn't know how much time had gone by, she didn't particularly care either. Could have been 20 minutes, or an hour, possibly two.

She felt a pair of hands on her hip from behind her, Marlene hadn't noticed them appear, she looked down, and there they were, strong and helping her sway to the music. Marlene gave a glance over her shoulder at the figure. He was too broad and tall to be Sky or Riven, who were the only boys she had seen who she knew at the party. No, this was a stranger, Sky was her best friend and at least she knew Riven, knew what he was like. She had no idea who this guy was.

The unknown boy continued to press his chest onto her back, his grip suddenly a little more intense. Marlene tried to take another step forward, to get out of his grip but he continued to hold her hips, pulling her to him. Her smile faded, "Let go of me." She said, but it came out as more of a slur, he didn't respond, probably not hearing her over the buzz of the music.

Marlene's eyes were wider now in alarm, her eyes scanning the crowd for someone she knew, for anyone but all she saw was a mass of bodies. Until she saw him.

Riven had been watching her for a while now and it would be a lie if he said it didn't bother him that she was dancing with another guy, her back pressed to his chest with a smile on her face. But the truth was it bothered him. It bothered him more than anything at that moment.

I shouldn't be jealous, she isn't even mine.

He took a drag from his cigarette and discarded the stub. But when he looked up, back to her. Her smile was gone, her eyes wide, her hands on his as if trying to pry them off. Failing, she began to look around frantically and her gaze snapped to his, he cocked his head and something clicked in his head.

"Fucker." Riven said and began to go through the crowd to get to her, when he reached them both, he was right in front of her, the guy still on her. She looked up at him and he saw it all, she was terrified. But it all happened so fast, blink and you would have missed it, she didn't see his eyes, not really... the anger which burned behind them.

Riven shoved the guy off and he stumbled back to the floor, his balance was awful. Riven grabbed the guy's shirt and yanked him to his feet with such force the guy looked scared as if he were afraid of Riven. He should be.

"Touch her and I'll break your neck," Riven told him, his voice so low, Marlene almost missed it. It was so quiet, so rough that only she, him, and the boy who had grabbed her, had heard him. The boy didn't reply, he didn't even react, he simply turned and sunk into the crowd. Some people had stopped to watch what was happening but most continued to dance.

Riven took her arm and gently turned her to face him until they were merely inches apart. His hands trailed to her shoulders as he scanned her for any injuries.

Felt a warm sense of relief surface over her chest when she had first seen Riven standing in front of her but nothing could describe the feeling of watching him threaten the unknown boy who had been holding her. And the feeling of him saying those things: touch her and I'll break your neck.

"Are you alright Sparky?" He asked her, looking down at her, they had been pushed closer together because of the teens around them. She nodded slightly, unable to comprehend the last 3 minutes, the alcohol swimming in her mind. Marlene couldn't help but smile in relief, she didn't want to think about what would have happened if Riven hadn't intervened. At the sight of her smile at the realization, Riven couldn't help but think Oh shit.

He slung his arms around her shoulders and leaned into her ear.

"Come on, let's get you out of here."

Well done Riven, well done.
