Cindy instantly tried to shield her daughter and dragged the little girl behind her)

It was already too late though; Lisa and Thelma had already gotten a good glance of the little girl who undeniably looked like someone they all know too well.
Lisa couldn’t process anything as the events unfolds right in front of her eyes. Everything she knew of her brother and the former maid was all a lie. How could this happen? This didn’t make sense and she was going to make it make sense before leaving.

Cindy on the other hand wasn’t taking this slightly though. She tried to get them all to go back to her car, but even she knew that it was not going to work, and Lisa calling out her name actually confirmed it.

The former maid just couldn’t believe it.
Six years.
Six freaking years.

She had managed to avoid the poisonous family for six whole years and now here they all were, swarming into her life all over again like evil bees… or even worse, locusts.

All the walls she had built up all these years was suddenly crumpling down, and fast… and by no other than the devil herself. She had always hated Thelma but it was just a common dislike— the kind that was enough to make you stand the person even if they were being very annoying… but today the hatred she felt was just unexplainable… much more intense.
The two women started walking towards the trio.

A curious Kayla poked her head from her hiding spot behind her mum and once again, Lisa was astounded. She really couldn’t believe what she was seeing. How could this little girl look so much like her mum and Brian at the same time? Lisa thought to herself.
“Cindy! Can you explain to me what’s going on here?” Lisa began. “I can’t believe you hide this from all of us.
“You have no right to question my decision, I think in would be in all our interest if we all go our separate ways.” After saying this she held her daughter’s hand and tried to walk away from the scene.

“It must be nice giving someone else’s child to another man to raise, I won’t be shocked if you pinned this on the poor man because of his money, you have always been a gold-digger what a pity.” Thelma said with so much anger.
Cindy stopped in her tracks and said, “First of all, who do you think you are to walk into my space and accuse me of things you have no idea of? I look at you and all I feel is pity… you trail after Lisa like some lost puppy, trying to fit into a life that you have barely worked for…” She took a step closer, looking so intimidating that Thelma actually took a step back out of shock. “… and then you call me a gold digger, but take a look at yourself and tell me who the cap fits better. Freaking wannabe like you.” She spat out the words venomously, meaning every word. For the first time in her life, Cindy realised that she was no longer afraid of the two women standing before her. Perhaps the fear and the respect she used to feel for them came with her former job… came with all those years of being their maid. But that fear was surely gone now, she was doing just fine on her own, making her own money and taking care of her dear daughter while being surrounded by family, and she’d be damned if she let anyone talk down on her now. Times had changed. She was no longer the same girl she used to be.
It seemed that her change had shocked

Thelma to the core if the stupidly stunned look on her face was any indication to go by, for her mouth hung open and she kept blabbering her mouth up and down like a fish out of water, but no words came out.
Good.
“It will be best if you leave me and my family alone. I don’t want to see any of you on my property ever again.” Cindy finished, grabbing her daughter’s hand
But I don’t think that’s fair to my brother, you can’t keep such an information from him” Lisa said pointing at the little girl still hiding behind her mum.
You can’t be serious right now right, where was he when I was driven out of your house like I was a nobody. I don’t think I own you or anyone any explanation as to what I do in my life and that of my daughter’s.”
But that’s not the case, Brian searched everywhere for you. He did everything in his power to find you, you can’t fault him for that, he deserves to know that he has a kid somewhere.
Sam stood there in shock as everything unfolded in front of him. He had always wanted to know more about Cindy’s past, but not this way. He was too dumfounded to come to his fiancée’s aid.
“Mummy, I want to go home,” Kayla nagged.
We are leaving soon sweetheart.
“I think its best if we all cool down and talk when everyone is in the right state of mind.” Sam spoke for the first time since everything started.
Cindy grabbed Kayla’s hand and began to walk toward their car.
“I’m giving you two weeks, tell him or I’ll do that for you.” Upon hearing what Lisa said, Cindy stopped in her trucks and turned to Lisa.
“You have no right to tell me when I should tell Brian about my business. Do whatever you want to do”.
She walked to her car and buckled her daughter in.
They were all now settled in the car and Cindy began to drive out.
“Hey, are you alright?” Sam asked.
“Yep, I’m okay. She replied
“Can you tell me what all that was about? Its okay if you don’t want to talk about your past I can understand and respect that.
“It’s okay, it’s about time I tell you about my past and know Kayla’s dad is. You deserve to know that much.”
“My mum and I worked as maids in the smith’s mansion and ….”
The smiths, as in the richest family in the country?” Sam intercepted with a shocked look on her face.
“don’t tell me that Kayla is the daughter of the Brian Smith.”
“I guess it wont take long to tell you this story since you have figured out half of the story.

Yes, Brian and I were in love so much so that we were dating for sometime until he just disappeared right when I got pregnant and I haven’t heard from him ever since. He was supposed to be the love of my life but he was no where to be found when I needed him the most.
That’s not all the story though, his mum hated my gut because of where I fell under the social status, I wasn’t the rich girl she wanted for her son. So, when she found out that I was pregnant, she insisted that I was trying to trap her precious son into a forced family because I was in for the money, I was a gold digger in her eyes and everything I said could not convinced her that I was carrying her first granddaughter. I was eventually sacked from the mansion and basically had to fend for myself.
I left that house that day not knowing what was next or what the world had in stored for me.

Meeting my dad helped a lot and he took me in and changed my life for the better. I owe everything I have to him I couldn’t he more grateful for all the blessings afterward.”

After the mini story, the car remained silent for a while as Sam tried to take everything, he had just heard from Cindy he just realised that he admired her even more. She had been through so much but still had the purest of hearts.

“Mummy so is my daddy coming to see me soon” Kayla asked out of nowhere.
This question left both adults speechless. Cindy had never really spoken to Kayla about her dad and she always dreaded the day her daughter would ask about him. She had never really come up with an answer to give so the question took her back a little but she came up pretty quickly and answered the little girl.

“Yes, sweetheart soon enough you would meet your daddy” The answer did put a smile on the little girl’s face, and that was good enough for her mother.
The rest of the car ride back home was silent.
They got home few minutes later and started on dinner.

“I hope you’re doing well though, you know I'll always be by your side no matter what.” Sam said to Cindy.
He couldn’t help but see that she was very quiet and that bothered him so much.

“Thank you so much Sam, I appreciate it a lot. I doing great” she responded with a forced smile.

Cindy couldn’t help but feel that this was just the calm before the storm she knew that the Smith were very powerful and would do anything in their power to get what they want. She just prayed that this would pass very quickly so they go back to their normal lives and.
Kayla is so important to her and she hopes she doesn’t get tangled up in all this.
