White lights were falling on my face

White lights were falling on my face. I recognized the touch on my knuckles. It was mom. She was rubbing my skin. I felt so warm.

"Wake up, my baby," she whispered and coughed. I comprehended the tone. She was crying.

I tried to wake up right away but I didn't know why I couldn't do it immediately. I felt like I was floating, so light.

"Lucas, she's awake! Her eyelids are moving," Mom shouted.

I focused on breathing a few times, realizing I couldn't speak at all.

"Come on, Selene. My baby, wake up, you're worrying me so much," Mom cried. "Sweetheart."

"Selene. Baby. We're right here with you. Can you hear us?" Dad said. He was holding my other hand. His hands were shaking.

Why were they stressing so much? I didn't like it.

"D-dad," I tried speaking.

"Yes, sweetheart. I'm right here."

"Thank you, God," Mom whispered as I moved my head.

I could finally open my eyes but saw nothing clearly for some time. Everything was spinning. Where was I?

I saw mom's face come in front of me. Her eyes were red and her cheeks were stained with tears.

No, my mom. She looked beautiful when she smiled.

"Mom," I mumbled.

She smiled. "Hey, Sleeping Beauty."

I felt her kiss both of my cheeks and then my forehead. Dad did the same and hugged me and mom to his chest.

"I'm going to check her, first," Mom said strongly and I tried regaining my consciousness to the fullest as they raised the bed and mom started to check me. I flinched when she flashed a light in my eyes.

She made notes on the clipboard. I always felt so proud when I saw my mom as a doctor. She was my mom.

"What do you want? Tell me. I'll bring it," Dad said as I tried to move. His eyes were different too. No light that used to be when he was with me.

"Why? I can walk," I rambled and made myself comfortable in the bed. I looked around and saw I was in what looked like a hospital room but a little different because there were my belongings from my room too. "Why am I in hospital, mommy?" I asked as she finished her reading.
