Allison Huges and Russell Hughes met at Hampshire College during a party hosted in their dorm block, Allison was performing karaoke while Russell was watching from afar and made a promise to himself to talk to the mystery girl before the night was through. And that is exactly what he did, many dates later Allison and Russell started dating and the rest was history.
After college, the couple moved to New York together, Russell joined the police academy, while Allison became a music teacher, after a few years they were happily married and expecting their first child. 9 months after Maddison was born, however, she was born deaf, she was diagnosed a few weeks after being born, and shortly after they implanted hearing aids. Allison and Russell loved their daughter unconditionally despite this. As Maddison grew she learned sign language and so did her parents, Russell moved up in his ranks at the station and Allison continued to teach music. At 14 Maddison came out to her parents as lesbian and they accepted her unconditionally.
A year after Russell received a transfer to Liam, Ohio, where Maddison's life will change for the better.
