Chapter 7: Empousae attack

Percy's pov:

After saying that ego maniac from Thalia's sucker punch, we went back to our group who just happened to have found a helper lady.

Annabeth was asking her about where we could find books that were in Greek. Luckily, there actually were books in Greek. We really were lucky. No we weren't.

Annabeth led us to the rear end of the store where there was a bunk of books away from the rest. No one was there so we were alone and not squished.

Annabeth, Thalia and Frank gathered up nine copies of the same books while Hazel and I checked out things.

When they were done with taking things out, I grabbed two out of four stacks while Frank grabbed the other two. We made our way to the counter where we paid and trekked back to where we were supposed to get along with the other group.

The others were already there. Nico and Piper each held two cauldrons filled with glass phials and brass scales. Jason had two cauldrons tucked under his arms while one sat in the air hovering above his head.

Leo held bags filled with pranking equipment and candy. 

Annabeth made a frown face at Leo and said," I thought I told you to be careful with money."

Leo scratched his head and said," Sorry?"

Annabeth sighed and started going through the items that had remained in the bag that Leo was carrying. He had snuck most of the items into his tool belt without Annabeth noticing.

Only a few items remained which Annabeth let go off. She ordered him to stuff the cauldrons and stuff into his tool belt. Surprisingly, they fit inside.

"Well come on, we still need:

1.     Wands

2.     Robes

3.     A cat, owl or rat

4.     Pointed hats

5.     Winter cloaks

6.     Telescopes

The list says that we'll find wands from some shop named 'Olivander's', "Annabeth finished.

We looked around until I spotted a shop that had a stick made on its front.

"Oh, there guys!" I said, drawing the attention of my friends.

Thalia and Nico rolled their eyes and said in unison," That a shop for broomsticks, smarty pants!"

I backed up in surprise, as did the rest of the group. Nico and Thalia looked at each other with confusion on their face but then started laughing hysterically.

I frowned at them when I heard Leo say," Uh guys, we got company!"

I looked to where he was and saw five empousae nearing us at top speed.

My brain kicked into battle mode. I was about to take out riptide and get dirty with the snake haired lady but then I remembered Chiron's warning.

I could see that the others had tried to do the same. Annabeth's eyes where calculating a battle strategy.

"Guys, we have to lead it to the back of the area! Follow me and Percy," Annabeth yelled us instructions.

I ran with Annabeth to the back of the shops, pushing people in the process and getting some weird looks.

We rounded a corner when I asked Annabeth," What's the plan?"

"Just play along!" she yelled back. We rounded another corner and came to a fairly deserted place.

Annabeth stopped in her tracks in front of a building and grabbed my hand.

"Give me a boost," she said then continued," push them to the corner and then I'll jump on them."

Wow! She is one good planner, I thought. I interlocked my fingers and Annabeth slipped her shoe into the platform.

She rested her hands on my shoulders. The rest of the gang was here but the many empousae still trailed behind but they were gaining on us.

I pushed Annabeth into the air where she did a flip and landed on her feet at the top of the roof of the building.

I grinned when she gave me thumbs up. I whirled around when I heard the clang of a sword. Jason was dueling with one of the five extremely hideous and angry ladies.

I clicked my pen and heard the familiar click as my pen grew into a three feet long gleaming blade of celestial bronze.

I charged into battle and slashed at one of them who barely managed to parry my strike.

I advanced again but this time she wasn't so lucky. I saw the one Jason was dealing with go down for the count as he ran his sword threw her.

Frank and Hazel went head on with one of the empousae while Leo and Nico handled the other.

Thalia was slashing at the fifth with Piper charm speaking to it causing momentary confusion.

Suddenly, the empousae fighting Hazel flipped in the air and slashed at Hazel's left leg causing her to topple to the floor.

Frank tried to finish her but she dodged his strike and slashed one of her talons at his chest making a good sized slash that dripped blood.

Frank fell to the floor. The empousae charged towards Thalia but it never got to her because Annabeth had ripped her to pieces. She stood in a pile of dust with a look of serenity and anger. Jason ran to help Hazel and Frank while I ran to the aid of Leo and Nico.

I cut into the fight and slashed and cut at the empousae. I stood in a heap of dust a mere minute later.

Nico frowned and said," show off much?"

I laughed but then ran over to Thalia with Nico and Leo behind me. The empousae fighting Thalia had regained its posture and was now sparring with Thalia. Unfortunately, it swung it's talons at Piper's leg. She clearly got hurt because she fell to the floor.

This apparently put Leo into hyper mode because he yelled out an outraged cry and ran over to the empousae, ahead of us all, with a hammer in his hand.

He yelled," Stupid Snake!" as he whacked the empousae out of its senses. Thalia ran it through with her sword.

I beamed at Leo but the look of happiness faded when I looked over to Piper. Her femoral artery had been punctured according to Leo who was bent over her.

"Annabeth," I yelled," Piper is in trouble. Come here!"

Annabeth left what she was doing and walked over to us with Jason on her heels. Jason took a look at Piper and fell to his knees and grabbed her hand.

Annabeth quickly fished out a bottle of nectar and poured it over Piper's wound. The wound healed but not completely.

A scar about three inches long remained.

"Piper, do you think you'll be able to walk or do you want to go back to the cabins?" Thalia asked.

"I'll be just fine. It was just a little cut," Piper replied.

Jason nodded, then said," You are not walking to anywhere. I'll carry you."

Piper said," No, you won't. I'm fine. I can carry my own load, thank you very much."

Jason sighed but agreed to not carry her after some convincing. We asked Hazel and Frank weather they were okay. They were good enough to carry on so we continued our way towards the wand shop. 

I'm a meanie so i'm just gonna leave it there. *evil laugh* you guys will find out what happens in the next chapter! till next time my peeps
