As night fell, the warriors arrived at the outskirts of the Mage's sanctuary, witnessing the blazing remnants of both the land and the Mage's former abode, still aglow from the recent massacre.

Guided by the information Matthew had gleaned from Teshia's debriefing, they were fully aware of the grim scene awaiting them, a consensus that propelled them to their destination.

Armed and vigilant, they approached the unknown, prepared for whatever challenges lay ahead. The first sensations that greeted them were the sight of scattered ruins and the acrid odor of burning and decaying corpses. Like a haunting reminder of Seatac's invasion, ashes and soot descended upon them, while the grim aftermath of the massacre sprawled before them, extending beyond the limits of their vision.

The warriors pressed on, but the ash in the air intensified, causing Jesse and Mya to cough slightly as they shielded their mouths. Jasmine took precautions, wrapping a piece of her jacket around her face to avoid inhaling the oppressive atmosphere. Their eyes stung, squinting as they struggled through the thick smoke.

In disbelief, Toni broke the silence, "What the hell, honestly!" He was the first to vocalize the shock and horror of the scene.

"No one would have survived this," Eko's mouth hardened; this was coming for them. This brutality, this force.

Taking charge, Matthew surveyed their surroundings and moved forward to lead, cautioning the group, "Be careful as you move about. We don't know who's still here—whether it's survivors or enemies."

Jasmine dared to voice the concern that lingered in everyone's thoughts, asking, "If Isis and Cid have this much power to effortlessly eliminate the black mages, what kind of fight are we in for?"

"A fucked up one," Richie's response echoed the grim reality of the impending battle as he navigated over scorched bodies, extending a helping hand to Mya, a gesture born from old habits.

Given the circumstances, Jesse and Toni held back from verbalizing their thoughts as they exchanged glances. They were conscious of the growing closeness between Richie and Mya in the past few months, even if Sawyer and Mya had been going strong with their relationship. It hadn't stopped Richie from spending as much as he could with Mya and Mac as a family.

Jesse had been ready to say something to Toni when Eko's high pitched commanding voice radiated through the air to Matthew that was just a pace in front of her. the flames burning bright alongside them all as they moved into the heart of the chaos of the massacre before them.

"They'll stop at nothing in this war," she remarked, carefully stepping over unrecognizable bodies. "If this is an indication of what lies ahead, , we need to reconsider our defenses. Activate every academy on sound level one. Allegiant, above all!"

"And start a panic?" Matthew turned his head to his wife. "We've discussed this!"

"Matthew, look around us! They did this! They will continue to do this to us!" Eko argued.
