CHAPTER NINE HINT OF JEALOUSY
Rae, Anakin and Obi-Wan stood in the elevator in silence.
"You seem a little on edge." Obi-wan said breaking the silence suddenly, Anakin looked at him
"Not at all." Anakin shook his head
"I haven't felt you this tense...since we fell into that nest of gundarks." Rae laughed at the memory
"You fell into that nightmare, Master." Rae spoke suddenly "and Anakin and myself rescued you, remember?"
"Oh...yes." Obi-Wan sighed once the memory came back to him, Anakin chuckled.
"You're sweating. Relax. Take a deep breath." Rae told her best friend
"I haven't seen her in ten years, Rae." Anakin complained, Rae rolled her eyes, one thing she didn't want to admit was that she was head over heels for Anakin but he couldn't stop talking about Padme and how lovely she is, Rae had nothing against Padme, in fact she loved Padme but it got on her nerves when Anakin, the boy she loved, wouldn't shut up about her.

They stepped out of the elevator a few minutes later, they were greeted by Jar Jar.
"Good to see you again, Jar Jar." Obi-wan greeted kindly
"Senator Padme." Padme turned towards Jar Jar but her eyes immediately focused on Anakin and Rae, obi-wan bowed as she approached them.
"It's a great pleasure to see you again, milady." Obi-wan shook her hand politely
"It has been far too long, Master Kenobi." Padme looked towards Anakin "ani? my goodness you've grown."
"So have you. Grown more beautiful I mean." Rae rolled her eyes, jealousy taking a hold of her "well, for a senator I mean." Padme chuckled
"Ani, you'll always be that little boy I knew on tatooine." Rae snorted gaining the attention from Padme and a glare from her best friend "Rae? You've gotten even prettier than the last time I saw you." Deep down Anakin agreed, he never thought a girl like Rae would ever like him back, so he pretended to like Padme to try and get to Rae, it was working but Rae didn't wanna seem weak by showing her emotion.
"Our presence here will be invisible, milady. I can assure you." Obi-wan said as they sat down on a nearby couch
"I'm Captain Typho of her Majesty's security service." Typho introduced himself "Queen Jamillia has been informed of your assignment. I am grateful you are here, Master Kenobi. The situation is more dangerous than the senator will admit."
"I don't need more security. I need answers." Padme stated "I want to know who's trying to kill me."
"We are here to protect you, senator. Not to start an investigation."
"We will find out who's trying to kill you, Padme." Rae reassured the senator "I promise you."
"We will not exceed our mandate." Obi-Wan said "my young padawan learner."
"I meant that in the interest of protecting her, Master."
"We will not go through this exercise again, Rae. And you will pay attention to my lead."
"Why?" Anakin butted in
"What?"
"Why else do you think we were assigned to her if not to find the killer?" Rae nodded
"He has a good point." She mumbled
"Protection is a job for local security, not Jedi. It's overkill, Master. Investigation is implied in our mandate." Obi-wan rolled his eyes looking at Anakin
"We will do exactly as the council has instructed. And you will learn your place, young one." Obi-wan turned to his sister "and so will you." Rae grabbed Anakin's hand as she noticed him looking at the ground
"Perhaps with merely your presence...the mystery surrounding this threat will be revealed. Now, if you'll excuse me." Padme stood up "I will retire." Obi-wan bowed as she left the room
"I know I'll feel better having you here." Typho stated "I'll have an officer stationed on every floor, and I'll be in the control centre downstairs." Typho and Obi-wan left leaving Anakin, Rae and Jar Jar
"Mesa busten wit happiness seein yousa again, Ani and Rae."
"She hardly even recognised me, Jar Jar." Anakin sighed
"What are you talking about? She didn't even notice me until I laughed. I bet you that if I didn't laugh she wouldn't have even said 'hi' to me." Rae said rolling her eyes again
"I've thought about her everyday since we parted and..." Anakin glanced at Rae "she's forgotten me completely."
"Shesa happy. Happier den mesa seein her in a longo time."
"You're focusing on the negative, Anakin." Obi-wan spoke as he walked back in the room "be mindful of your thoughts. She was pleased to see us. Now, let's check the security."
