-Y/n's pov-
Dustin ran with his compass in one hand and my arm in the other, he'd started running a few minutes back and dragged me with him. The sun set about an hour ago.
"Are we there yet?" I whined as we stopped
"Something's happening." he whispered and then ran off without me
"Dustin? Can you slow down? Dustin!" Eddie yelled as he walked past me. I sighed and ran up to Dustin
"I think we're getting close." Dustin said as he slowed down and looked at me.
I grabbed his arm and Eddie grabbed the other as he about walked into the lake "Watch your step, Big guy." Eddie patted dustin's shoulder
"Uh-oh.." I whispered as I realized where we were
"You gotta be shitting me." Steve crossed his arms
"This is lovers Lake."
"This is confounding." Dustin whispered
"There's a gate in lovers Lake?" Max asked
"Whenever the demogorgon attacked-" Nancy started
"It left an opening." I cut her off "Maybe Vecna's the same way."
"Only one way to find out." Steve mumbled
Eddie walked over to a tarp and lifted it up to reveal a boat, him and Steve put it in the water and Eddie got in following Robin and Nancy.
Dustin tried to get in but Eddie stopped him "You trying to sink us? Three people tops."
"Look, it's better this way. You guys stay with max and keep an eye out." Nancy smiled
"You keep an eye out!" Dustin argued
"It's his goddamn theory." I crossed my arms
"I thought you-" Max tried to cut in but I shushed her
"You heard Nance." Robin argued
"Who put her in charge?" Dustin shouted
"I did." Robin responded
"I never thought I'd wanna punch you until now." I crossed my arms and looked over at Robin
"Compass." Nancy put her hand out. Dustin sighed and gave it to her
Steve pushed the boat off and got in.
"You said three!" Dustin yelled
"I can't babysit anymore!" Steve yelled back
"Bedtime at nine!" Robin yelled as me and Dustin flipped her off. I was more aggressive as I held it up in the air and waved it around.

It'd been way to long of us standing here watching them float out the the middle of the lake.
"They stopped." Lucas said as he looked through the binoculars
"What's going on?" Dustin asked through his walkie
"Uh, your compass has gone from wonky to wonky with a capital 'ahh!'" Robin sounded through
"Ew..when'd steve get so hairy?" Lucas asked
"right? I keep telling him he needs to tame that jungle, but he claims the ladies dig it." Dustin looked over at Lucas as he spoke
"Lemme see." I walked over and grabbed the binoculars, I watched as Steve got ready to jump into the water. I realize it seems like I'm just looking at Steve but I couldn't care less, I'm watching to see what happens. I took the binoculars down and handed them to max.
"He is really hairy. It's not bad though." Max took the binoculars down and looked at me
"No, no. Not bad at all." I nodded
"What the hell?" Lucas asked as he snatched the binoculars away from max causing us to laugh
"You guys realize if there's a gate down there it's technically a water gate." Dustin smiled "Watergate!" he laughed
I cupped his face with my hands "Dustin, sweetie, that was adorable but please never make that joke again."
He nodded before we heard noise from the woods "Down by the water!" we all looked out that way before ducking down behind a log.
"Shit!" I whispered as we watched them get closer
Max jumped up "Hey, officers! Over here! I found the killer! This way!" then she ran off, we followed behind
It was an intense chase through the woods, a good 5 minutes of running before a cop grabbed Dustin and tackled him.
"Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!" I shouted as I stopped running.

Here I am, on my couch, being questioned by the police. In front of my parents and my boyfriend's mom. To be fair all of our parents are here.
"What exactly were you all doing at the lake?" Powell asked
"We weee.. We were going for a walk." I nodded slowly
"A walk? A 9 pm?"
"To the lake. To...take a little swim. Lil night swim." Dustin spoke in a high pitched voice. My eyes widened as I looked at him, he doesn't realize how bad that sounds
"Dusty. Someone was just murdered there." Mrs henderson cried
"Yeah, we didn't realize that till we got there."
"That's why we didn't swim!" Lucas added
"Was Nancy there?"
"No!" I shouted quickly
"Yes." Dustin said at the same time
"uh- she was there. But then she left." I fake corrected myself
"And that's when you guys came!" lucas shouted
"And they all dared me to say what I said." Max laughed a bit
I smiled "Oh, yeah!" and we all laughed
"You're lucky you didn't get shot." Dad looked at me and I glared back
"Have you had any contact with Eddie?"
"That psycho... Freak killer?" Dustin shouted "No. No!"
"Oh, that's a bunch of bull." Erica stepped forward and our jaws basically fell to the floor "I mean, you realize they're lying. The whole couch is on fire."
"Erica!"
"Just the facts!"
"Are you lying to these policemen, Dusty?" Mrs henderson asked
"No!!"
"Lying to the cops is a crime son." Mr sinclair spoke up
"I'm not lying."
"Threaten them with a little jail time."
"Dad!
"You wanna send our kids to jail?" Mrs sinclair asked
The whole room burst into arguing
"Dad, I can't believe you said that!"
"He didn't mean it like that!"
"we need to take this seriously!"
"Our kids aren't going to jail."
Suddenly Powell shouted "Shut up! We're going to try a more civilized approach."
Suddenly I remembered being in 7th grade, sitting in front of hopper in the principals office and finding out Will was missing.
"One at a time. You first." He pointed at max. Those were the exact words hopper used when he pointed at Mike that day
"What? Why me? I'm not even in hellfire!"
"Follow me."
"Seriously!"
"Do I need to cuff you? Up. Chop-chop."
