Lola sits curled up in my lap while she gazes at Stephanie through her big green bambi eyes
"Your eyes get bigger and more beautiful everyday Lo," Stephanie compliments
"What do you say?" I question looking down at her
"Fank you," she says timidly
"Her hair is wonderful, what do you put in it?" Stephanie says strained
"Virgin oil hair food and a bit of Dark and Lovely hair moisturiser," I reply flatly
"I've never heard of them,"
"You wouldn't have. Lola's hair is coarser because she's mixed race so-you know what, what do you want?" I ask pinching the bridge of my nose before loosening my tie
"We tried again for the 6th time but the egg didn't fertilise and now he doesn't want to be with me- Chris I don't know what to do- I can't give him what he wants-," Stephanie's voice cracks
"Leave him. Find someone else," I simply state
"Can I stay here for a while?" Stephanie asks gently but I shake my head
Her shoulders fall and she gets up to leave
"Well I haven't stepped into your house in months so I suppose I shouldn't ask for too much,"
She leaves and I begin making dinner
