I don't know what it was but the minute she gave me that despondent hopeless gaze I caved in
That look always reminded me of the first time I screamed at her and she looked at me as if I'd broken her heart
Some call it manipulation
I call it being a push over
"How can you stand to be with a girl that your ex boyfriend cheated on you with?" I ask her one day
"I only got with her to get back at Daniel and it worked...then I started getting feelings and the plan got fucked," she explains shrugging her shoulders
"Language," I scold but Lola simply smiles
"What's your revenge plan?" I continue asking
"I wanted to kill him but that's too easy so I'm going to take away his beautiful singing voice," Lola explains cheerfully gazing whimsically into the distance
Furrowing my brows I tell her not to do something she'll regret
"Don't worry dad, I learn from the best and the best is always you," she simply declares with a flourish of her hands
