"Mr. Albrecht, welcome. How can I help you?" the school counselor gestured to the chair, offering for Micah to sit down.

"I can't do this anymore! Nobody will listen to me! No one is believing me!" he started ranting the second he touched the chair.

"Woah, calm down. What's the matter?" she frowned, trying to calm the distressed graduate student.

"Everything! No one will believe me! Say you believe me! Please!" he begged, leaning forward and grabbing her arms desperately.

"Mr. Albrecht! Please, calm down. Talk to me, who won't believe you?" Dr. Octavia Collin snatched her hands away from the 29 year old.

"Everyone! The Dean, the teachers, not even the fucking janitor!" he yelled again before catching himself, "I'm sorry for swearing." he shook his head furiously.

"It's fine. What are they not believing you about?" she questioned, trying to figure out exactly why the young man was screaming his head off.

"About him! The guy who keeps following me around everywhere I go!" he answered, pointing outside the window where there were a few students walking by.

"I even tried going to Mr. Liegth but he won't listen to me. He says he's my friend and he's here for me but he's lying. They're all lying!" Micah abruptly yelled again, startling Collin.

"Okay, you said a guy keeps following you around. Have you tried to confront him?" she asked, placing her hands on her lap.

"YES! But when I do," Micah leaned in as if it was a secret, "he disappears. Every single time." he answered in a low whisper.

Collin gave him a look, the same look everyone else had given him, "No. No! You think I'm crazy too!" he stood up and placed his hands on his head.

"You're just like everyone else! You don't believe me either!" he yelled and before Collin could stop him, Micah ran out of the office.

He hurriedly walked down the hall, if only he could get to his dorm. He was safe there, the man usually didn't follow him there.

"You're not crazy. He's really there. They're trying to make you believe you're crazy but you're not. You're not." he whispered to himself as he rushed past the other students in the halls.

And then he caught a glimpse of the shadow. The same shadow that had been following him around for months now.

A tall shadow, not too tall but about his height. With medium length hair, holding a cigarette in between his lips.

Micah suddenly turned around and yelled, "LEAVE ME ALONE!" but he was gone.

The man was gone and so was the shadow, same as always.

With the small amount of time the stalker left him alone, Micah used it to run to his dorm and lock himself inside.

The lights were off and the curtains closed, as usual, leaving barely any light in the dark room.

Micah sat on his bed and rocked himself trying to self-soothe, "It's okay. He can't follow you in here. You're okay." he convinced himself, trying to stop himself from crying.

But still tears stung his eyes, only 6 months ago he was an excited and happy student.

He'd just graduated college and decided he wanted to go to graduates school. It was fun and exciting, and he was glad to get away from his stuffy home with his father and mother.

The two of them argued like a married couple, even though they weren't. Their house always reeked of smoke, and Micah had promised himself he'd never smoke or raise a child in those conditions.

Except now he did smoke.
He was stressed, all the time.
Whoever that man was that followed him around made him lose sleep every night over it.

He had a girlfriend, Tanaka Hana, who unfortunately went to a different college but they still visited each other every weekend since their schools were close by.

But recently, Micah had been staying inside his dorm more.
The last thing he wanted was for that creep to know where his girlfriend stayed, so they only talked over phone.

And then a knock at the door brought Micah's attention back, "Lights out!" was the announcement from his next door mate.

Micah stood up from his bed and checked his clock, it was 11pm.
"How did- it was just noon. How is it suddenly almost midnight?" Micah talked aloud to himself as he held his head.

Did I fall asleep? Have I been awake for almost 12 hours straight without knowing it? he questioned himself as he slowly sat back down in bed and realized he was hungry.

As he walked over to his mini fridge to get a burrito, Micah realized he couldn't remember the last time he ate.

But when he opened his fridge, he saw him. Or more like it, the shadow, of the man who followed him around.

Same tall build, medium long hair with the cigarette.

Micah turned around and lunged at where he assumed the shadow was coming from, only to realized he'd tackled a turned off lamp, now breaking it.

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WANT FROM ME!" he cried out, holding his bleeding palm from the shattered light bulb.

Micah waited in silence for the answer for a few seconds before, "Dude! Shut up!" came from outside his dorm room.

Micah collapsed onto his knees and balled his fists up to his face, not caring that he was getting blood on his cheek.

"What the hell do you want from me?" he asked again in a teary voice as he sobbed quietly.

"Please. Just stop making me feel like I'm losing my mind." he silently begged to the shadowy shoes of the man in front of him.

"I'll do whatever, just please- I don't deserve this." Micah ignored the pain his hand displayed and continued to beg the seemingly invisible figure with all he had.
