Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson
Nashville, Tennessee
2:20pmi'm standing in my doorway, stunned.
i believed that he would stop writing after the letter i sent to him in response.
doesn't he get the message? i can't be with him no more. how could he have written back?
the letters are still in my hand when i hear my name.
"gabriella! you're home early"
i nearly drop the handful of mail in my hands.
"yeah, it was an early day at the studio"
he walks up to me and kisses me on the cheek.
"anything in there for me?"
i practically shove the pile of mail behind my back.
"nope! nothing important!"
brian looks at me like i'm weird, and i know i probably am.
"alright then"
he turns around to walk back to the kitchen, and i finally let my breath go.
i didn't realize that i was holding it until now.
damn it reid. it's a good thing brian didn't retrieve the mail when he got home. this is getting worrisome now
"what's what, honey?"
i don't even realize that i'm talking to myself.
"oh, nothing! just forget that"
brian puts down his phone and looks up at me.
"is everything okay, gabriella? you're acting a bit strange"
i tense up. as i know, brian has noticed my odd behavior since i've been home.
"yep! all good over here"
"okay, whatever you say"
my eyes haven't left the letter that i'm grasping tightly with both hands.
"well, i'm taking out the trash. if this pile of mail is just junk, i'll take it out. here, pass it over"
i feel the panic ride to my chest in a flash.
