Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson
Nashville, Tennessee
12:25pmmy phone makes a loud crash as it hits the floor.
the hand holding onto the device now has my mouth as i gasp.
this can't be happening
i try to slow down my breathing and stay calm.
i reach down to the floor to pick up my phone and open it up.
"meet me at my house in 20 minutes. this is an emergency"
i run to my office to get my things and leave the studio immediately.
the only stop i make is to the pharmacy before driving home.
they are already in the driveway waiting for me when i arrive.
"thank you for coming on such short notice"
i walk towards them, trying my best to keep it together.
"gabriella, what's wrong?"
i can't find the words to communicate.
everything has become slow and hazy.
instead of answering with my words, i hold up a pharmacy bag and pull out a small rectangular box.
"oh. gabriella"
holly takes me into her arms and holds me tight.
any strength i had to keep it together dissipates instantly.
i can't help but cry as holly strokes my hair.
"it's going to be okay, babe. no matter what happens"
i want to believe her sadly, to know that i will be supported and provided for whatever happens next.
but with how things have been going lately, i'm not so sure.
"i'm scared"
"i know, babe. but i'm right here. i'll stay with you every step of the way"
"thank you, holls. i don't know what i'd do without you"
she leans back and pulls a strand of hair from my face.
"are you ready to take the test?"
