CHAPTER FOUR

Pietro and I decided to go for a walk after the cookies were done. Carrying our tasty treats with us, I hurry down the street, trying to keep up with the super speedy superhero. Luckily, most people are still at work, so the back roads out of my neighborhood are barren.

"Pietro, wait! Slow down!" I shout, putting my hands on my knees and breathing heavily.

A shadow of blue comes rushing towards me and stops. "Are you feeling alright?" Pietro asks. His eyes show concern. He steps closer and places a hand on my arm. Warm, tingly sparks come from his fingers into my flesh.

"Yep, I'm all good. Just great. Only, my max speed is like 10 miles an hour. Yours is like... the speed of sound." I straighten up, having caught my breath. "I'm good now. Carry on?"

"I have a better idea," Pietro says, smirking evily. "How about I carry you."

Before I have a chance to object, Pietro has me in his arms. His hold is gentle, caring, and warm. Who knew someone with such pale skin and cold, blue eyes could be so inviting and warm. "Hey!" I laugh as he swings me around onto his back, keeping my arms as round his neck and my legs around his torso, refusing to let go. "Who gave you the right?"

He smirks that infamous smirk again. "What? You didn't see that coming?"

Before I have a chance to react to that amazing one-liner, Mr. Quicksilver himself takes off, running not nearly as fast as he could have, down the streets, passing a block every other second.

The shock wave of going from 0-100 (maybe more, I'm a terrible judge of speed and distance) makes my red curls fly back out of the old Hollywood style it was in. Everything outside of Pietro seems to blur and pass by as if you're on the Metro train in D.C.

Pietro himself is in perfect vision. His white hair acts like mine, hugging closely to his head. His body vibrates with the immense power coursing through his veins.

When he comes to a slow stop, to that I am very grateful, I find us standing back in the front yard of my home. "Wow," I gasp, slipping down from his back. "That was..."

"Terrifying?"

"Yes, and amazing! How fast were we going?" I ask, excitedly.

Pietro smiles, and replies, "Around 150 kilometers per hour."

My jaw drops. "I thought were were going much slower than that."

He shrugs, trying to look cool about showing off his powers. "Once you hit 50 or so, the rest is fairly simple. I used to take Wanda all the time..." His face falls a little at the mention of his sister. His eyes stare over me, elsewhere.

"Hey," I tilt his chin to look down at me. "Don't be sad. If anyone can find a way back for you, I can. I know pretty much everything about everybody in your universe." I give him a sad smile, realizing that he truly doesn't want to be here. He wants to go home, to the Avengers and so his sister.

Pietro returns my facial expression and leans down, slowly, as if he's scared, for a hug. "Thank you, again, Glory. You ave been so kind to me. How can I repay you?"
