CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Getting to the house that Wanda and Vision are staying at doesn't take long, only a couple minutes. I'm nervous and my stomach feels weird. I'm going to meet one of my favorite superheroines ever. And Pietro's sister!

We get off the jet at a small house snuggled in the back of the city. It's not visually conspicuous, the perfect place to hide two Avengers on their down time.

"Pietro," I say, turning to him, "you should do this alone."

"What? No, I want you with me."

I shake my head. "She hasn't seen you in five years, she thinks you're dead. She can also read minds. I don't want to make things worse by my," I tap my head. "Maybe it's best if you reunite alone?"

"If you insist," he says, kissing my forehead. "Just so you know, I am not going to be able to hide you from her." He laughs.

I smile up at him, hugging him tightly. "Take all the time you need. I'll be here if you need me." He pecks my cheek and then slowly walks to the front door or the house.

Before he even gets there, the door is opening to a 29 year old Wanda. She clearly wasn't expecting visitors, being still in her pajamas. Her eyes are wide and brimmed with tears. She shouts something in Sokovian at Pietro and runs to meet him, throwing her arms around him. He hugs her back, just as tightly. "Pietro!" she cries, tears streaming down her face.

They walk into Wanda's house, and moments later, Vision walks out after hugging Wanda at the door. They exchange a couple words, then he flies to meet us on the jet. "Well, that was... unexpected," he says in a part human, part mechanical voice. "What are you all doing here?"

"Delivering that," Maria answers, nodding her head towards the house. "It's a lot story, Vision. I wrote up a report. Download it?"

Vision uses his technopathy to download the information in mere seconds. "Oh, I see." He turns to me. "Hello, my name is Vision. It's nice to meet you, Ms. Northern." He nods his head towards me.

I nod back. "It's very nice to meet you, too, Vision."

He makes a small smile and turns towards Tony. "Wanda wants some time alone with her brother. Might we discuss our return to the Avengers with Mr. Rogers?"

"Steve's not in right now, Vision," Tony says. "Personal issues. He should be back within a couple days."

"And what of Thor?"

"He's on Asgard trying to figure out if any being or object can create this kind of event," Maria answers.

"Something tells me Loki might have something to do with it," Rhodey states. "He hasn't caused any trouble for anyone in way too long."

"Maybe," Tony says. "We'll just have to wait and see. In the mean time, I say we get you," he points to me, "A new uniform."

I point to my chest, surprised. "Who, me?"

"You're wearing a sweatshirt, love the color by the way, and jeans. Not exactly Avenger mission level material. Come with me." He wabes me over to the back of the jet. "I brought this, in case you'd want it. I had Friday scan you on your way out, not creepy I promise. She gave me a custom suit for you." He holds out a dark blue suit with an A for Avengers on the side of the shoulders. "It should fit. The restroom is right here."

I take the suit, marveling at the fact that Tony Stark had an Avengers suit made for me. "Wow, thank you, Tony!" I hug him, and he pats me on the back.

"Anytime, kiddo."

I quickly change into the comfortable, stretchy uniform that looks similar to Black Widow and Maria Hill's. It fits perfectly on me. Tony had also handed me some combat ready boots, so I put those on as well.

When I walk out, Maria smiles, and says, "Nice! Blue looks good on you."

I blush and thank her.

We waste an hour or two, talking about the Avengers initiative, S.H.I.E.L.D., Hydra, the other realms, and anything and everything else. It's amazing. There's so much they never tell you in the movies and comics.

Soon after, Pietro and Wanda start walking out towards the jet, huge smiles on their faces. Pietro's arm is thrown around his sister's shoulders, pulling her in for a half hug as they walk. Her arm is around his back, hugging him back.

When they arrive in the jet, Pietro walks Wanda over to me. I fidget with my hands. Here goes nothing. "Wanda, this is Glory," Pietro introduces Wanda to me. She smiles. I'm careful to control my thoughts around the psychic. "Glory, this is my sister Wanda."

Wanda walks to me and hugs me, without any warning. "Thank you for bringing Pietro back to me," she whispers. I hesitate, but then hug her back. When she backs up, she laughs and says, "Sorry, hello, Glory. It is great to meet you."

I smile back. "No, don't be. I'm glad he's here, too. And you have no idea how much I've wanted to meet you!"

Quit fangirling, Glory! I mentally slap myself for being such a nerd. She's a human, too. Treat her as such.

"Actually, I am a mutant," she laughs, answering my thoughts.

I laugh uncomfortably as everyone looks at us funny, not understanding our conversation. "Mind readers," I groan, and everyone says, "Aha," knowing exactly what happened now.

"Do not worry, I will stay out of your head now," Wanda says.

I nod. "Thanks. My thought process can be pretty erratic."

"Clearly you have never read this boy's mind," Wanda says, poking her brother in the ribs. "Every other thought was about you, and his thought process? Please. One minute is one thing and the next it is something completely different. I can barely keep up!"

"That is because I am a quick thinker, little sister," Pietro says, trying to shut his sister up.

Yep, they're definitely siblings.

"Who is older now, brother?" Wanda laughs. "I am!"

"That is not fair-!"

"It is not my fault you died!" Wanda crosses her arms. "I win."

Pietro rolls his eyes and hugs his sister again. "I missed you, Wanda."

"I missed you, too, Pietro. Do me a favor, and do not die?"

He laughs. "Do not plan on it." He lets her go, and she walks over to Vision, standing hand in hand with him. Well, I did warn him of this, didn't I?

Pietro comes to sit beside me, wrapping an arm around my waist. "Where will we go now, Stark?"

"Let's head back to New York before the rioting gets worse. We're not exactly on everyone's best list right now."

"Even though you saved the world? Like, five years ago?" I ask.

Tony shakes his head. "We destroyed everything. Sokovia is still, by majority, uninhabitable. We - I - created Ultron. I'm not their favorite person."

I sigh. "I'm sorry, Tony."

He shrugs, pretending it's nothing. "No biggie, kiddo."

Wanda and I meet eyes with concern. We must be sharing the same thought. Tony will want to fix this. All of it. Let's just hope he doesn't make the same mistake twice.
