Chapter 20: Anuj ka sach

Anupama looked at him. Her eyes welled up and she turned around and headed down to the auto. Devika followed her immediately.

Arun: Anuj, tumhe kya laga? Uh? Mai tumhe hero bann ne dunga aur khud villain ban jaunga? Itna bhi kachha khiladi nahi hu mai!

Anuj: Bas kar Arun! BAS AB! Tumne jo kiya hai na uska toh hisab abhi ke abhi hi barabar hoga!

Anuj and Arun were in a very heated atmosphere and this heat went into them and they got into a physical fight with Arun starting the fight in order to get Anuj away and make space for himself to go from there. But unfortunately Anuj was quick enough to reach and their fight started.

Meanwhile Devika caught hold of Anupama and stopped her from running out of the fort.

Devika: Anu! Anu kya hua?

Anupama was crying. She turned towards Devika and started crying keeping her head on Devika's shoulder. Devika consoled her.

Devika: Anu..Anu dekh yaar, mai toh pehle se hi bol rahi thi na ki yeh Arun mujhe theek nahi lagta!

Anupama: Arun ka theek hai! Par..par Anuj..woh woh mujhe..

Devika: Ha Anu..Anuj tujhe chahta hai..mai janti thi iske baare me..

Anupama: Tum jaanti thi?! Tumne bataya kyu nahi mujhe?! Aur upar se mujhe Anuj ke sath akele kyu chota karti thi tum?!

Devika: Anu Anuj accha ladka hai! Aur phir usse apne limits pata hai! Mai jaanti thi ki woh tumhari izzat sabse pehle karta hai! Aur rahi baat teri, toh Anu tujhe bhi toh woh pasand hai na?

Anupama: Mai..mai..woh..

Devika: Sooch isske baare me, apne aap se pooch, starting me toh tu usse pasand karti thi na! Toh agar Anuj ne tujhe pasand kar liya toh ussne kya gunah kiya? Kaise kam ussne tere sath kuch galat toh nahi kiya na! Ussne tere sath kuch galat baat toh nahi ki na! Toh? Ussne galat kiya hi kya?! Bas yeh hi na ki usska dil tumpar aa gaya hai!

Anupama: Devika!

Devika: Soch toh! Tu aaj aaram se ghar me jaake soch iss baare me phir koi bhi faisla karna. Agar tu chahe toh Anuj se dosti bhi tod dena par ek baar schne ke baad! Aur ab isske baare me mat soch! Chal ghar chal!

Devika took Anupama to the auto and once again looked at the fort. Devika thought,

Devika: Anuj..sab bas theek ho..I'm sorry mai tumhe abhi chodke jaa rahi hu but be safe!

Anupama and Devika left in the auto.

Anupama was at her house and all the things that happened in the fort kept on replaying in her head. Arun, his words, his words about Anuj, Anuj's confession, all this kept on playing in her head.

Anupama: (to herself) Yeh..yeh kya ho gaya..Anuj..Anuj toh mera dost tha na..phir..aur Devika..Devika ki baat..mai thodi..ya phir..

Anupama was top confused in her own mind about Anuj. She didn't understand what to say, what to think. He gazed out of the window.

Anupama: Anuj..woh toh..

Then she realised that she and Devika left him and Arun in that place and went away.

Anupama: Woh..woh theek toh hoga na! Anuj theek toh hoga na! Mai..mai Devika se poochti hu..usse zaroor pata hoga!

Anupama quickly went to the landline and called up Devika. She gave a full call, first, no one picked up. She called again. This time Devika's mother picked up the phone.

Devika's mom: Hello.

Anupama: Jai Shree Krishn auntie, mai Anupama bol raho hu..

Devika's mom: Anupama! Arre beta kaisi ho tum?

Anupama: Mai theek hu auntie, aap kaise hai?

Devika's mom: Mai bhi theek hu beta! Batao aaj phone kaise kiya? Devika se baat karni thi?

Anupama: Ji auntie..Devika hai na ghar pe?

Devika's mom: Nahi beta, Devika toh tumhare dost ke ghar gayi hai..kya naam tha uss ladke ka..

Anupama: Anuj?

Devika's mom: Ha beta! Anuj, woh Anuj ke ghar gayi hai. Pata nahi bohot jaldi me nikal gayi thi woh ladki, mujhe toh kuch bataya tak nahi!

Anupama: Oh! Accha auntie, koi nahi..

Devika's mom: Accha beta, koi baat hui hai kya? Kuch hua kya uss ladke ke sath?

Anupama: Woh auntie, hum logo ne milne ka socha tha toh bas pooch rahi thi ki Devika nikal gayi kya ghar se ki nahi..chaliye auntie, mai bhi ab ghar se nikalti hu..

Devika's mom: Oh ok beta! Dhyan rakhna dono ladkiya aapna!

With this Devika's mother cut the phone. Anupama quickly got up and realized that if Devika had rushed to Anuj's house then there must be some trouble! She started feeling scared. She was about to go out when Bhavesh came back from his outing with his friends.

Bhavesh: Arre Anu, tu kaha jaa rahi hai?

Anupama: Bhavesh, mai woh..mai..mai..

Bhavesh: Anu yeh tu bakri kya ban gayi hai? Mai mai bol rahi hai!

Anupama: Bas ne! Mujhe abhi bohot jaldi kahi jaana hai!

Bhavesh: Anu, sab theek hai na? Koi problem toh nahi hui?

Anupama: Arre nahi nahi! Woh maine aur Devika ne soocha tha ki hum dono Anuj ke ghar jaake uski madad karenge, aur dekho ne, Devika kab ka nikal chuki hai aur mai abhi bhi yahi hu! Accha mai chalti hu!

Bhavesh: Anu, ek baat pooch sakta hu mai?

Anupama: Ha toh! Yeh kya baat hui? Aap nahi pooch sakte toh kaun pooch sakta hai?!

Bhavesh: Anu, tera aur Ajun ka kuch chal raha hai kya?

Anupama: Matlab?

Bhavesh: Anu, tujhe Anuj se..woh toh nahi ho gaya hai?

Anupama: Woh kya Bhavesh?! Saaf saaf bolo ne!

Bhavesh: Anu, tujhe Anuj se pyar ho gaya hai kya?!

Anupama: Yeh kya..aisa kyu pooch rahe ho aap?

Bhavesh: Anu, maine aur maa ne notice kiya hai yeh..jab se tum aur Anuj dost bane ho tab se tum uski bohot baat karti ho, khaate hue bhi, bahar jaate waqt bhi..har dum. Aisa toh pyar me hi hota hai na Anu..

Anupama: Yeh..yeh aap..kuch bhi!

Bhavesh: Ya phir baat yeh hai ki tujhe abhi tak samajh nahi aa raha..bas maine ek baar apni baat bol di tujhe..

Anupama: Mai..mai chalti hu, bohit der ho rahi hai..

Anupama quickly made her way out of the house. She caught an auto. And on the way to Anuj's house, she kept on thinking about what Bhavesh said to her, what Devika said to her. All this started to sum up in her mind, she was starting to realise that maybe she does love him afterall. On her way, she got stuck in jam. The jam felt as if it lasted forever. She started thinking about Anuj. How everytime he is the one who come to help her, how he has been with her all this time. Each and every moment that she has spent with Anuj flashed before her eyes and she came to a conclusion. She loved Anuj. She realized that the feeling she felt with Anuj was very different, she has never felt this with anyone else! She couldn't imagine her life without Anuj by her side, she used to think that he has just become a very good friend, but she now realised that it wasn't just friendship. It was love. She soon reached Anuj's house and came inside. She saw Devika standing with the doctor and Anuj laying down on the sofa with bandages on his head and hand. Anupama panicked but went numb on the outside seeing Anuj in this situation.
