Chapter 31
"I really liked my hair today too," I frown, raking my hands through the long tresses, now incredibly out of place.
Turns out, a quickie isn't the best idea when you've put a lot of time and effort into your appearance.
Do I regret it?
No.
Would I do it again?
In a heartbeat.
Ryan grins, his cheeks still flushed from our previous actions.
"I like it better now." He says, placing his hands on my waist, and then turning me towards him. "I'll like it even more after round two."
"Round two?" I raise an eyebrow. "Is that how you really want to spend your sister's engagement party? In a bathroom, with your pants down?"
"Yes." He doesn't hesitate. "Without a doubt."
I laugh. Should've expected that.
"Speaking of, were you ever able to find Maggie?"
"Nope." Ryan shakes his head. "Instead, I ran into Adrienne. We were on our way to look for her, and that's when we found you." He stops mid-sentence. "Well, you and loverboy."
My face flushes.
I assume he's referring to Alexander. I'll probably never recover from the fear, and awkwardness of that moment.
And I still can't get over the fact that he and Ryan will practically be family in just a matter of months.
Talk about an awkward twist of fate.
"Right." I reply. "And then you proceeded to threaten him."
"I didn't threaten him." He replies casually.
"You did."
"I didn't."
"Did you not tell him that you'd break his jaw?"
"I did." He nods.
"And that's not a threat?"
"I don't think so." Ryan shrugs. "It's just the truth. Call it foreshadowing."
"Foreshadowing?" I gape. "That's ridiculous."
Ryan has already punched a man for me once, and I don't have a single doubt that he would do it again. I appreciate how protective he is, but I don't think Alex is deserving of his wrath.
"You should be nicer to him, by the way." My voice is on the stern side. "His brother is marrying your sister, and Alex is a nice guy."
"Wait, his name is Alex too?" Ryan blinks in shock. "What the fuck?"
"Yeah...I thought you knew that."
"I didn't." He mutters. "But how cute is that? You two sharing a name."
"Ryan..."
"The two Alex's in love," he continues, with a cheerful sigh full of sarcasm. "How wonderful. After all, he wanted you from the moment he saw you."
I shove his arm softly.
"Don't do that. He only said all those things to protect our relationship."
Though it was awkward, and very inconvenient, I'm glad that Alexander chimed in to cover for us. I don't know I'd handle having to explain myself to Adrienne right now. Plus, tonight is about Maggie and Aaron. Not Ryan and I. Not Alex and I, either.
"What if our relationship doesn't need protecting?" Ryan responds. "We're two adults. The whole sneaking around thing is getting old."
His tone, previously sarcastic, now borders on harsh. Still, he holds his resolve.

Romance"What are we doing Alex?" He breathes against my lips. That's too sensible of a question, so I ignore it. My brain has yet to return to my body, and right now that is the last thing I'm worried about. "Stay." I whisper against his mouth, my words f...
