Heyyy. I doubt that this chapter will make sense to you, but it does in my mind. XD

Au: none
Mind is a prison by Alec Benjamin
Trigger warnings: confusion

The darkness was strong. It swirled with green and yellow. For a moment, Thomas was sure he saw purple. He was walking. Endlessly. He couldn't sit still, and he couldn't go back. His phone wasn't working, and he couldn't summon the others. In fact, there was a blank space in his mind; it was a battle to even remember Logan, Patton or Roman. He found the names easy to recall. Roman was logic. Patton was creativity and Logan was mortality.

There were other names in his mind, too. Janus. Remus. Virgil. He felt sad when he thought of those names. Each name had a colour. Logan- dark blue. Patton- light blue. Roman- red. Janus- yellow. Remus- green. Virgil- purple. He didn't know why, nor could he figure it out. His mind tingled and he knew this wasn't the real world. His energy was fading fast. His legs stiffened and panic rose in his throat like hot bile. He pushed forward, ignoring the almost melodic screaming of his muscles.

He fell to his knees.

Tears fell down his face. The musical complaints were louder than ever. He opened his mouth to scream. No sound came out. Sighing, a slow song began to escape his body.

"I don't live in [Florida], I'll inform you, that's not where I reside
I'm just a tenant, paying rent inside this body and I
Got two windows, and those windows, well, I call them my eyes
I'm just going where the wind blows, I don't get to decide" Thomas' eyes widened in shock. He knew the lyrics perfectly, though he didn't know where they came from. He could hear the piano, the guitar, the drums. He couldn't stop singing.

"Sometimes, I think too much, yeah, I get so caught up
I'm always stuck in my head
I wish I could escape, I tried to yesterday
Took all the sheets off my bed" he didn't like where this was going. But it was impossible to stop.

"Then I tied up my linen with five strips of ribbon I found
Scaled the side of the building
I ran to the hills 'til they found me
And they put me back in my cell
All by myself, alone with my thoughts again
Guess my mind is a prison and I'm never gonna get out" He smiled inwardly. That was right.
He struggled to his feet, just standing there.

"So they tranquilized me, analysed me, threw me back in my cage
Then they tied me to an IV, told me I was insane
I'm a prisoner, a visitor inside of my brain
And no matter what I do, they try to keep me in chains" What was he talking about? He was so confused. Who is they? Where is his cage? Still, his voice went on, getting louder and louder. "Sometimes I think too much, yeah, I get so caught up
I'm always stuck in my head
I wish I could escape, I tried to yesterday
Took all the sheets off my bed" the second chorus swung around, and he took a few tentative steps forward. "Then I tied up my linen with five strips of ribbon I found
Scaled the side of the building
I ran to the hills 'til they found me
And they put me back in my cell
All by myself, alone with my thoughts again
Guess my mind is a prison and I'm never gonna get out" He was walking now. Striding, in fact. The darkness seemed to recede slightly. Maybe this was working. He had to keep going.

"Said even if it's true, no matter what I do
I'm never gonna escape
I won't give up on hope, secure another rope
And try for another day
Said even if it's true, no matter what I do
I'm never gonna escape
I won't give up on hope, secure another rope
And try for another day" The darkness definitely shrunk back. The slight purple tint had disappeared. He could do this. He could escape. He felt he was nearing the end of his song. With a final burst, he Shouted the lyrics at the top of his lungs. "Then I tied up my linen with five strips of ribbon I found
Scaled the side of the building
I ran to the hills 'til they found me
And they put me back in my cell
All by myself, alone with my thoughts again
Guess my mind is a prison and I'm never gonna get out"

With a gust of wind, the darkness flooded back. He could see four figures in front of him. Suddenly, he could remember. Patton, Logan, Roman and Virgil. How could he forget? Everything would be okay now they were here.
