Hearing the knocks, I make my way to see Luca standing outside my bedroom.

"Hey Twinny dinner is done" Luca says smiling

"Okay" I say in my normal tone

As I make my way through the house, I subconsciously search for exists and anything suspicious. Maybe it's trauma or maybe it's because I'm an assassin... probably both.

As soon as Luca and I walk into the dinning room everyone goes quiet.

that's not awkward

I make my way to sit next to Luca as he has already taken his seat. My brothers' and father's gaze burning into me. Sitting at the table there is an uncomfortable silence until Matteo speaks up "So Laura did you like your room?" he says happily

"Yes, thank you." I reply in a firm tone

"Great! If you want to add or change anything we can go shopping!" Xavier explains

shopaholic alert

"I'm good. Thank you for the offer." I reply.

what? I hate shopping. It's so stressful, and you get all sweaty trying on clothes, and there's never anywhere to sit down when your feet get tired, and-

girl SHUT up

"Well, Laura tomorrow the boys are going to take you shopping." my biological father says

"You don't have to do that." I tell him

"Nonsense, we want to spoil you principessa" Salvatore says lightheartedly

Knowing I probably won't win this argument I say "Okay."

I see maids come out with our dinner plates. She hands the food to the boys first starting with my father and lastly me. I give a polite "thank you" and she looks shocked. She politely nods and exists the room.

I turn to the boys who are too engrossed into their food and ask "did none of you say thank you?"

They look up confused. I continue "The maid looked quite shocked when I said thank you to her for giving me a plate of food. So, let me ask again did none of you say thank you?"

"Well, no?" Salvatore says

"I don't see why we should. They are hired to do that." Xander says

"Hired or not your staff should be treated with common human decency. You should be grateful for all the things you have, including having been placed food in front of you that you didn't even have to make." I say coldly

They looked shocked but then have realization written across their faces. "You're right Laura, we shouldn't treat them the way we have been. Thank you for bringing it to our attention" Salvatore says kindly.
