TERMINOLOGY
Magazine: This is what holds the rounds. It differs between each gun. Riffles usually hold more rounds than an average handgun.
Bolt Action: When a riffle is bolt action that means the casing/brass surrounding the bullet does not come out of the camber unless you manually unload it (or do it purposefully).
If you've ever heard the phrase "policing your brass" this is what it's referring to. When the casing is left at the scene.
Racking the Slide: This term was used when Laura was in Salvatore's office. This is similar to cocking a gun, but not the same thing. You rack the slide to either empty a round from the camber or to show it's empty.
Cocking a Gun: Most of the time, you cock a gun when a loaded magazine is attached. This pulls the round into the chamber, ready to fire.
