Jaden had arrived in Johto after leaving Sinnoh to go on his new journey. Upon arriving, he bumped into trouble.
???: Woah! Sorry! Excuse me!
Someone bumped into Jaden.
???: I'm so sorry. I'm in a hurry. Bye now!
Jaden: Uh, okay then. That was strange. Hey, he dropped something.
Jaden picked up the item the person dropped.
Jaden: A pokeball?
Then suddenly, a Pokemon came out of the pokeball.
Jaden: Woah. A Pokemon was inside? What is it? Oh no, I forgot my pokedex.
The mysterious Pokemon was looking around and seemed scared of its surroundings.
Jaden: You okay, little guy? Return then.
The Pokemon returned to its pokeball.
Jaden: Let's go find that guy again. He looked like a professor. Let's call Professor Rowan.
Jaden wandered to find the nearest Pokemon Centre. After that, he video-called Rowan.
Prof. Rowan: Ah, hello Jaden. I see you've arrived in Johto. What can I help you with?
Jaden: I bumped into someone who looks similar to you and he left a pokeball behind. I was wondering who he is.
Prof. Rowan: Okay. I believe you are talking about Professor Elm.
Jaden: Professor Elm?
Prof. Rowan: Yes. He's the professor in Johto and quite a clumsy one at that. As soon as you mentioned that he dropped something, I figured it would be Elm.
Jaden: Thanks. Where does he live?
Prof. Rowan: He lives in New Bark Town. It's not too far from where you are now.
Jaden: Thanks, Professor. I'll head there now. Oh, tell Cynthia I made it.
Prof. Rowan: I will. Bye now.
After ending the call, Jaden and Arcanine headed to New Bark Town to find Professor Elm.

They arrived in New Bark Town. He found the professor's house. He knocked on the door.
Prof. Elm: Hello? Who is it?
Jaden: Hi. It's me. You bumped into me at the harbor.
Prof. Elm: Oh yes, I remember. I'm sorry for what happened. What can I do for you?
Jaden: You dropped this.
Jaden showed Elm the pokeball.
Prof. Elm: I've been looking for Cyndaquil. I didn't know where I put it.
Jaden: Cyndaquil? Is that the Pokemon that's inside?
Prof. Elm: Yes. Cyndaquil is one of the three starter Pokemon in Johto. Here, I'll show you.
Professor Elm showed Jaden the three Johto starter Pokemon.
Prof. Elm: The fire-type Cyndaquil, the water-type Totodile and the grass-type Chikorita. Where have you come from?
Jaden: I've come from Sinnoh. I'm on my journey with Arcanine.
Prof. Elm: I see.
Then suddenly, Cyndaquil jumped to Jaden.
Jaden: Oh. What's this? You remember me?
Prof. Elm: If you want, you can take Cyndaquil.
Jaden: Really? You sure?
Prof. Elm: I don't mind. It seems Cyndaquil has taken a liking to you and as a thank you for returning it to me.
Jaden: You hear that? Our first Pokemon in Johto.
Prof. Elm: Here's Cyndaquil's pokeball and a pokedex.
Jaden: Looks different from the Kanto version.
Prof. Elm: Yeah. Each region has a pokedex with a different design.
Jaden: Makes sense. If they all looked the same it would be boring.
Prof. Elm: Yeah. I take it you'll be wanting to take on the Johto League?
Jaden: Of course.
Prof. Elm: May I suggest Violet City?
Jaden: Violet City?
Prof. Elm: It's the first gym in the league and a map of the region is on the pokedex as well so you don't get lost.
Jaden: I'll probably need that.
Prof. Elm: Here are a few potions and pokeballs too.
Jaden: Thanks. I'll see you again.
Prof. Elm: Bye Jaden.
Jaden exited Elm's house.
Jaden: Onward to Violet City.
After arriving in Johto, Jaden received his first Pokemon and first gym challenge.
