Jaden earned his first badge in Sinnoh after defeating Roark.
After winning at the gym, they returned to the Pokemon Centre so his Pokemon could rest.
When the following day arrived, Jaden decided to make a stop before leaving Oreburgh City.
Jaden: Let's visit the Oreburgh Mine again. I want to see if I can get a Cranidos fossil.

As they arrived at the mine, Jaden spotted Roark.
Jaden: Roark!
Roark: Hi, Jaden. I thought you would've left Oreburgh by now.
Jaden: Not yet. I wanted to see if I could get a Cranidos fossil.
Roark: I see. Have you digged for a fossil before?
Jaden: I do have an Aerodactyl, but it was restored when I caught it.
Roark: Want me to give you a tutorial?
Jaden: Sure.

They entered the mine and started digging in a new area.
Roark: We'll start here because this area hasn't been explored. Then, we start digging.
Jaden: So, in the end, it's just down to luck?
Roark: Basically, yeah. Sometimes, we don't find fossils, but even that doesn't fail to put a smile on my face. So, let's start digging.

Jaden and Roark digged, and digged, and digged.
But they weren't able to find any fossils.
Until a stroke of luck...
Jaden was using a pick-axe until he struck gold (not literal gold).
Naden: Hey, Roark. I've found something!
Roark: Let's see. Now, be careful removing it from the wall. The wall can easily collapse and we'll lose the fossil.
Jaden: No pressure then.
Jaden used a smaller tool to ease the fossil out of the wall.
Jaden managed to retrieve the fossil and handed it to Roark.
Roark: You did great. Now that we have this fossil, let's go and revive it at the museum.

When they arrived at the museum, Roark handed the fossil to a museum worker who was going to revive it.
Roark: The process will take a little while, so let's...
???: Where is my son?!
Roark: Not him.
Someone was at the entrance, making a huge presence about himself.
Jaden: Who's that?
Roark: That's my dad, Byron.
Byron: Come on, son. That's no way to talk to your dad!
Jaden: Why's he here?
Roark: He does this. He comes by every so often to see how my mining goes. He's also the gym leader of Canalave City.
Jaden: Really?
Roark: Yep.
Byron: Who's your friend?
Roark: This is Jaden. He's my recent opponent who defeated me.
Byron: Really?
Jaden: So you defeated my son. I hope I get to challenge you myself one day.
Jaden: Oh, believe me, you will and I will beat you how I defeated Roark.
Byron: You've got a fire in your eyes. I like it. In that case, I'll be waiting.
As Byron and Roark were catching up, the fossil was being restored.
The restoration was complete.
Employee #1: It's a Cranidos.
As Cranidos was waking up, its eyes shot open and went wild.
The recently restored Cranidos was going in a rampage.
Jaden: What's all that noise?
Then, the wall was broken through by the Cranidos.
Jaden: Was that a Cranidos?
Roark: I'm guessing it's after being restored. It happens sometimes.
Jaden: This is what happened with my Aerodactyl. We'll need to stop it.
Jaden, Roark and Byron followed Cranidos outside.
Jaden: Electabuzz, go!
Cranidos spotted Electabuzz and initiated a battle.
Cranidos attacked with Headbutt.
Jaden: Electabuzz, Protect.
Electabuzz protected itself from Cranidos' headbutt.
Jaden: Now, Brick Break!
Electabuzz attacked with a swift chop and landed a super-effective hit.
Jaden: Iron Tail!
Electabuzz swung its steel-hard tail.
But Cranidos used Crunch to stop Electabuzz's attack and dealt damage.
Cranidos then threw Electabuzz.
Jaden: Electabuzz, use Thunderbolt!
Byron: Why is he using an electric type move?
Electabuzz fired a strong electric blast at Cranidos, but it had no effect.
Cranidos shook off the electric blast.
Jaden: Brick Break.
Electabuzz quickly switched into striking with a swift chop and landed a super-effective hit.
Jaden: Pokeball, go!
Jaden threw a pokeball and Cranidos went inside.
The red light flashed... and then it stopped.
Cranidos was caught.
Jaden: We caught Cranidos.
Roark: Congratulations on catching Cranidos.
Jaden: Thanks, but sorry about the museum.
Roark: It's fine. We can fix it up in no time.
Byron: I'll stay and help.
Roark: Really?
Byron: Why not. It's not every day we work together on something.
Roark: Thanks, dad. Anyway Jaden, we'll see each other soon.
Jaden: I'm sure we will.
Jaden and Arcanine left Oreburgh City and was returning to Eterna City.
