Jaden and Arcanine had entered Petalburg Woods in order the get to Rustboro City.
Jaden: Okay, let's go.
As soon as he entered, he was challenged.
Trainer: Let's battle.
Jaden: Sure. Go Taillow.
Trainer: Go Slakoth!
Jaden: A Slakoth?
Pokedex: Slakoth, the Slacker Pokemon. Slakoth lolls around for over 20 hours every day. Because it moves so little, it doesn't need much food. This Pokemon's sole daily meal consists of just three leaves.
Jaden: Taillow, use Focus Energy!
Taillow raised its critical hit ratio.
Jaden: Now, Quick Attack!
Taillow flew toward Slakoth.
Trainer: Use Scratch!
Slakoth was attacking using sharp claws.
Jaden: Taillow, dodge and then attack!
Taillow dodged Slakoth's claws and landed a hit.
Jaden: Nice job, Taillow.
Trainer: Slakoth no! Okay. Use Yawn!
Slakoth let loose a huge yawn toward Taillow.
Jaden: Dodge it using Quick Attack!
Taillow used Quick Attack to dodge.
Jaden: Now attack!
Taillow, still using Quick Attack, attacked Slakoth and landed a hit.
Slakoth was defeated.
Trainer: Return Slakoth. Go Zigzagoon!
Jaden: A Zigzagoon? Return Taillow. Go Treecko. Use Pound!
Treecko charged and jumped, ready to pound using its tail.
Trainer: Zigzagoon, use Tackle!
Zigzagoon charged and faced Treecko's attack head-on.
Both Pokemon clashed.
Jaden: Now Bullet Seed!
Treecko fired multiple bullet seeds.
Trainer: Dodge them!
Zigzagoon was dodging the fired seeds.
Jaden: Use Crush Claw!
Treecko slashed at Zigzagoon, while it was dodging the previous attack, with sharp claws and landed a hit.
Trainer: No Zigzagoon.
Jaden: Use Bullet Seed!
Treecko fired more seeds and landed a hit.
Zigzagoon was defeated.
Trainer: Return Zigzagoon.
Jaden: Treecko return. Get some rest for now.
As he was walking through the woods, he heard something.
Jaden: Huh? What's that?
He heard some voices coming from the east.
He followed the voices and saw what was happening.
He saw some people wearing black and red, surrounding a scientist.
Jaden: Is that Team Aqua? Can't be. They're wearing different clothing. Hey! What's going on here?!
Grunt #1: Buzz off. This doesn't concern you.
Jaden: In your opinion only. Are you Team Aqua?
Grunt #2: Huh? Are you insane? We're Team Magma.
Jaden: Team Magma?
He remembered that Professor Birch said that there were two teams in Hoenn.
Jaden: Doesn't matter. Leave now.
Grunt #2: You're getting brave. You need to be taught a lesson. Go Poochyena.
Grunt #1: Go Shroomish.
Jaden: A Shroomish?
Pokedex: Shroomish, the Mushroom Pokemon. Shroomish live in damp soil in the dark depths of forests. They're often found keeping still under fallen leaves. It feeds on compost that is made up of rotten, fallen leaves.
Jaden: Okay. Go Treecko and Ralts.
Grunt #2: Poochyena, use Bite on Ralts!
Grunt #1: Shroomish, use Tackle on Treecko!
Team Magma's Pokemon charged.
Jaden: Treecko, use Pound on Shroomish and Ralts, use Double Team!
Treecko used its tail to pound the incoming Shroomish and landed a direct hit.
Ralts made illusionary copies of itself and surrounded Poochyena.
Grunt #2: Huh? Which one's the real one?
Grunt #1: Shroomish, use Absorb on Treecko!
Shroomish absorbed some of Treecko's health to restore some of its own.
Jaden: Ralts, use Confusion on Shroomish and Treecko, use Crush Claw on Poochyena!
Treecko and Ralts switched opponents and attacked.
Treecko landed a hit on Poochyena with huge, sharp claws and Ralts landed a hit on Shroomish.
Grunt #1: Shroomish, snap out of it!
Grunt #2: Poochyena no!
Their Pokemon were defeated.
Grunt #1 & 2: Return.
Grunt #1: We'll be back.
Grunt #2: Team Magma will have the last laugh.
The grunts fled.
Jaden: Okay. Return guys and get some rest.
Scientist: Thank you, young man. I shall take my leave and return to Rustboro City.
He quickly left and Jaden carried on.
Trainer: Go Nincada!
Jaden: A bug and ground type. Go Treecko! Use Bullet Seed!
Treecko fired seeds like bullets.
Trainer: Nincada, use Harden!
Nincada raised its defense and took little damage.
Trainer: Use Scratch!
Nincada charged with sharp claws.
Jaden: Treecko, use Crush Claw!
Treecko matched with its own claws.
Both Pokemon landed a hit on each other and took damage.
Trainer: Use Harden!
Nincada raised its defense.
Jaden: I've got an idea. Use Pound!
Treecko charged.
Trainer: Use Sand Attack!
Nincada threw sand in Treecko's direction.
Jaden: Now jump!
Treecko jumped to dodge the sand.
Jaden: Now Bullet Seed!
As Treecko was falling, it was firing seeds like bullets at Nincada and landing super-effective hits.
Trainer: Nincada no!
Jaden: Now, Crush Claw!
Treecko slashed at Nincada and landed a hit.
Nincada was defeated.
Trainer: Oh man! Return Nincada.
Jaden: Another good job, Treecko. Huh?
Then Treecko was trying something.
Jaden: What's wrong?
Treecko then drained some energy from a tree.
Jaden: What was that?
Pokedex: Mega-Drain. A nutrient-draining attack. This restores half of the user's health by half the damage taken by the opponent.
Jaden: Awesome. You learned a new move. Return and get some rest.
Jaden found the way out of Petalburg Woods.
His Pokemon have levelled up and learned new moves.
