Barbatos had never been the one to fret over someone before, but as of late, he had growing concern for (Deadname). Only recently, they decided on pursuing a relationship together due to their many overlapping interests and attraction for each other. Barbatos was definitely pleased to be dating someone like (Deadname), but he could detect that she was a facing an issue that she was not willing to share with him at the moment.
He asked once or twice whether there was something on her mind, bothering her, but she always seemed to brush him off and tell him that she was alright. However, he could clearly tell that this was a lie. He didn't want to pressure her into telling him though, and so he patiently waited for her to open up instead.
Usually, she came around the demon lord's castle frequently just to see him. . . But for a few days now, she hadn't shown up once. Barbatos tried not to ponder over the situation too much, assuming that she was just busy.
He messaged her yesterday after a prolonged silence between the two of them on messages. She had yet to get back to him. Barbatos wanted to go over to the House of Lamentation to check up on her but he couldn't just abandon his duties. . . He would have to wait until he found some free time to go and see her.
Barbatos finished preparing Lord Diavolo's lunch and placed it upon a tray. He then headed towards Diavolo's office. As he made his way, he heard a knock on the front door of the castle. He immediately assumed that it was (Deadname), and before he knew it, his pace quickened over to the door.
He opened it up only to be treated to the sight of Lucifer, not (Deadname). Barbatos bowed to the blackette, greeting him. Lucifer let out a small chuckle.
"I've barely ever seen an emotion cross your face yet I noticed that slight look of dissatisfaction at the sight of me. Did you assume I was (Deadname)?" Lucifer queried. Barbatos smiled wryly as he rose.
"You saw right through me. (Deadname) hasn't come around lately, so I thought that maybe she decided to visit." Barbatos explained as he let Lucifer in.
"If you are so concerned for her, why don't you go and see her? I'm pretty sure that she's spending a lot of time in her room, working on a project."
"Oh, if she's busy, then I would not like to disturb her. Also, I still have a lot of duties to attend to around the castle." Barbatos then continued to head towards his master's study. He didn't why know why, but he had an unsettling feeling that (Deadname) was not actually busy. . .
He let out a very inaudible sigh before opening Lord Diavolo's door. "I've brought you your lunch, Lord Diavolo." Barbatos informed. Lucifer followed from behind and entered the room.
"Oh, Lucifer, you made it! These were the documents I wanted to go over with you today. As for you, Barbatos, could you possibly place my tray here? I'll eat in just a moment." Barbatos nodded his head.
