Lucifer let out a strained sigh as he sorted through the latest documents regarding how much money his group had made in the last month. It was apparent that as of late, the police were cracking down on many of their schemes, meaning they were losing revenue. If he didn't do something about this soon, the amount of money they earned would continue to decline.

He had to do something. . . But what, at the moment, he was unsure. He had to clear his head. . .

He got up from his desk. For a minute, he just stood there, staring at the papers despondently. He wondered sometimes whether it was time to give up this gig. It was always a split-second thought because he immediately snapped himself out of it.

He was doing all of this for a reason. Diavolo, for one, wouldn't let him back out so easily, especially when he promised him that he would continue to lead his subsidiary group in exchange for a stable and money-filled life for his seven brothers.

Before Diavolo had given him this extremely important role, Lucifer and his many brothers lived a rough life on the streets. Every day, Lucifer had to try and find ways to ensure every single one of his brothers survived. It was really hard, especially since he didn't originally intend to try and shelter so many boys.

He and his brother, Mammon, escaped an abusive household. They barely had any money to even eat, and so Lucifer and Mammon worked hard to make sure their bellies were at least kind of filled by the end of the day. Slowly, with time, their small group of two began to increase as they found more young boys struggling on the streets.

Lucifer ended up taking five more siblings under his wing. Sure, they weren't related by blood but Lucifer felt responsible for them from the moment he found them suffering on the streets.

Their lives all changed the day Diavolo saved them. Diavolo was a weird man. He just happened to chance upon the seven brothers and grew interested in their dynamic. He asked them all an unexpected question. Whether they wanted him to save them all. Of course they agreed in an instant because they had nothing to live for, no one to turn to.

And so, Diavolo raised them all like they were his own. Then one day, Diavolo came over to Lucifer, asking him whether he wanted the stability to continue living. Lucifer didn't want his brothers to suffer! He told Diavolo the obvious answer. However, Lucifer had to make a decision.

If he wanted to protect his brothers and only let them flourish further, then he would have to become the leader of Diavolo's sub-group which specifically sold illegal drugs. Lucifer was immediately in conflict because he hated the substance with a passion because it was what stole his and Mammon's parents from them. . . But he knew that it was either this or going back to a life of unpredictability and danger on the streets with no way to survive.

It didn't take him long to accept Diavolo's terms. Though not all these kids were his actual brothers, he was willing to protect them all until the very end. None of his brothers (excluding Mammon) knew that there were terms that Lucifer had accepted for this job and they just assumed that he wanted to go down this line of work entirely of his own volition. Lucifer would ensure that they never discovered the truth.

Lucifer ran his slender, gloved fingers through his slightly tangled black hair before heading out to the gardens of the mansion that they all lived in. Whenever Lucifer felt overwhelmed with the workload or was struggling to come up with ways in which he could improve the group's revenue, he usually took a stroll in the lush garden.
