Chi-Chi pulled her hair free from its ponytail, letting her black hair fall freely down her shoulders. "Are you sure? He doesn't seem like he's...into me, you know?"
"Oh, don't be ridiculous!" Bulma said with a laugh and a wave of her hand. "He adores you. I can tell by the look in his eyes whenever you two are around each other."
Chi-Chi sighed, sinking lower in her chair. She figured Bulma was right, since she knew more about relationships than Chi-Chi did. The night they had spent talking at the fair was romantic, even if none of them had known it at the time. Chi-Chi knew, deep down, that she was attracted to Goku and his charming mannerisms. He was broad and strong and funny and kind. He checked all the marks off Ch-Chi's 'Best Possible Boyfriend' lists. After hearing from Bulma that Goku was not only the strongest man in the world, but he had also battled a living God and survived. It was beyond impressive, and of course Chi-Chi had a hard time believing her friends' statement. Bulma had repeated herself multiple times, saying that Goku was so powerful that he once tried to play with Krillin's daughter, Marron, and accidentally sent her flying into the sky like a frisbee. The idea that somebody could be that strong seemed unrealistic to Chi-Chi, but it wouldn't be the strangest thing she had ever heard of.
She sat in Bulma's bedroom, in front of her mirror placed atop her dresser, where they began the process of makeup and hair styling. In just a few minutes, Chi-Chi and Goku would be going out on a date. Of course, Goku had no intention of it being a 'date,' though Bulma had believed it to be one, so Chi-Chi did, as well. Bulma ran a brush through Chi-Chi's soft hair, a wide display of makeup items before them on the dresser. While Bulma was far from an expert on using beauty products, she trusted that she at least knew a little bit about what she was doing. She wanted to impress Goku, not scare him away.
"Besides, it's not like Goku had other women knocking at his door. He's a humble man." Bulma went on with a chucke. "In fact, I don't think he's ever kissed another women before. You've got this in the bag, Chi-Chi."
"I don't know..." Chi-Chi said softly, looking at her reflection in the mirror in front of her. "Maybe he just doesn't like me."
"What's not to like?" Bulma asked incredulously. "You're funny, you're sweet, you have really soft hair. Jesus, what do you use to make this so soft, I want some of this." She ran her hands through Chi-Chi's hair with a confused smile.
Chi-Chi laughed and batted Bulma's hands away. "That's not important, now come on! Be realistic! If he's the big Earth savior that you said he is, why would he be interested in me? I mean, he's adorable, but I'm not sure if he and I are on the same page."
"Do you like him?" Bulma asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
Chi-Chi tapped her fingers together. "...Yes, I really do."
"Then boom, there you go! If a girl likes a guy, the guy can't refuse. They're desperate for attention, especially Goku. He'll love you, but you have to be more confident."
Chi-Chi knew Bulma was right, but a part of her stayed floating in the realm of uncertainty. Looking at her reflection, she could see that she was attractive, young, and beautiful. She had gotten many offers for dates from men who barely knew her, which was flattering but was always declined. Bulma had talked Goku up day and night until they met at the fair, and from that one first sight, Chi-Chi felt a strong surge of feelings towards him. Whether those emotions were somehow false or deeply and undeniably true, she did not know. All she did know, however, was that Goku made her laugh. That was the important thing, in her opinion. A kind man that can make her laugh.
Bulma stepped back from Chi-Chi's hair, placing her hands on her hips. "Well, your hair is done, you're welcome. Have you picked out a cute dress?"
Chi-Chi stood, turning to give Bulma a confused look. "A...dress? I thought I was just going to wear something simple...like what I'm wearing now?"
