Altan's POV:

My mom told me about my uncle. I can't say I'm very happy with him or excited that he's back. But I know he means a lot to my dad. Growing up, they of course had their mom and dad. But they also always, always, had each other. I felt bad for my dad. I loved him a lot. I wish I knew what to do.

Suddenly, I felt a tap on my shoulder. I jumped and turned to see Shane, Renae, and Addie. I stood up and hugged them. They showed their sympathy for me.

"Sorry about your uncle, Altan." Shane told me.

'To be honest, I'm a little mad at him...I can't say I'm happy to have him back in our lives. Really, I'm just worried about my dad. Uncle Casper means a lot to him. If dad is willing to give him a chance, though, I guess I can give him one too...I guess.' Renae didn't get all that, I'm guessing, because Shane translated it for her and Addie.

"What's wrong with your uncle?" Addie asked.

'He's very sick, Addie..' I signed. Shane translated for her.

"Shane, is Altan's uncle gonna die?"

I looked at her, not knowing what to say. Shane looked at at, then at me. I looked back at my mom, who must've heard her, because she was looking right at us. Shane looked over at mom, as if asking for her permission. She gave him a sad smile and nodded. Shane looked back at Addie and sighed.

"It's a possibility, ladybug." Ladybug is a nickname he sometimes calls her by.

Addie frowned. "I'll be right back.." she said.

We looked at her as she left. Addie's never had to experience death before. And, with Shane, Addie, and Renae being as close as family to me, she'd experience it first hand.

 Addie's POV:

I walked through the hospital until I got to a wall with a big window. I saw Gamma Cayden sitting beside a man in a bed. I guess that was Altan's Uncle Casper. Gamma Cayden looked so sad. So, I did what always helps Shane when he's upset.

I went into the room quietly. Gamma Cayden, I guess, heard me because he turned and looked at me, confused.

"Addie? What are you doing here?" he asked.

I didn't say anything. I just climbed onto his lap and hugged him. I could feel he was shocked, but he eased up slowly. I could hear him crying. I was kinda sad seeing him crying. My daddy doesn't cry very often. Mommy doesn't either. We were there a few minutes when I heard the door open.

The doctor stood in the doorway, staring at me. "How did you get in here, kiddo?"

"Ladybug." I stated. Gamma Cayden chuckled and set me down.

 "Huh?" the doctor asked.

 "Ladybug." I answered.

"She's used to the nickname Ladybug. That's what she means." Gamma Cayden replied.

"Oh, alright. I'm sorry, Ladybug. Now, what's your name?"

 "Addie."

"Well, Addie, can to tell me how you got in here? Or why you're here?" the doctor knelt down to my height.

"Gamma Cayden was sad. I wanted to hug him and make him feel better." I told him.

The doctor nodded slowly. "You are such a caring young girl. But I don't think you should be in here."

"No, doctor. She's fine." Gamma Cayden said. I smiled.

"Alright then. Gamma, your wife and son are here. They want to see you." He nodded.

 "I'll be right out."

 "Can I stay a minute?" I asked.

 "I don't know...."

"Please? Shane can stay with me!"

Gamma Cayden sighed. "Well, alright. Just be careful and don't touch anything. I'll send him in here." I nodded and watched as Gamma Cayden left.

I crawled onto the bed and looked at the man. He looked terrible.

"You look terrible. What happened?" I asked.

The man didn't answer. I guess he was sleeping. I didn't want to wake him so I was quiet. Well, most of the time.

"I hope I get to meet you before you die, Mr. Casper. My brother says it's a possibility...I think that means you might die...Mommy and daddy says dying is like when someone falls asleep  but they don't wake up again. That's sad..." I spoke up. "I like you, Mr. Casper. I don't know you, but I think you're nice!"

It was true. I don't know why I never met him before or why he looks like he's fought with a bunch of wolves that wanted to kill him, or why he has a sad look to him, but I think he's nice.

"Hey, Addie.." I turned after I heard Shane say my name. "What are you doing in here? And why are you on Mr. Casper's bed?"

"I wanted to talk to him."

 "On the bed?"

I shrugged and smiled innocently. Shane sighed and sat down in the chair next to the man's bed. I looked at the man and frowned. Then, I leaned down and hugged him as best I could without hurting him or any of the things attached to him.

"Addie, what are you doing??" Shane asked quickly.

"He looks sad. I wanted to make him feel better." I replied, looking at him while my head rested on Mr. Casper's chest.

His heart beat sounded...weak? Is that the word? It sounded different than Shane's, mommy's, and daddy's. And the pack doctor's. When I went to the pack doctor for a check up one time, he let me listen to his heart beat through what he called a stethoscope. I even got to mommy's heart, daddy's, and Shane's! It was kinda fun.

Shane smiled at me. "I love you, little sister..." "I love you too, big brother." I smiled at my brother. I don't know what I'd do without him. He's the best big brother in the world!

Third Person POV:

Casper heard everything this little girl said to him. He felt her hugging him. He heard what she said to her brother about why she was hugging him. He heard her say she liked him and that she thought he was nice. He already liked this sweet little angel. He wanted to open his eyes and look at her. He wanted to look at his brother. He didn't want to girl to know what he did, however. He figured she must not know about him or his past. He thought it best she didn't know. He was trying to fight but it was hard. But that one little girl with her kind words and simple hug, might have made a difference.
