Four years since the last time Naruto stood before Kurama. Now twenty, he stood at a full height of five foot eleven. Shorter than his brother and Hashirama who was six foot four each. Well, shorter than all his friends really. Shikazu was six foot two, Inoi was six foot three, Choku was six foot six, Yune was six foot, Ibi was also six foot, Sasuke was actually the same height as Naruto almost. Actually being half an inch taller though so Naruto was technically shorter. Thought not by much. The most unlikely of his new friends though was Idachi Hyuga, he was six foot four but it was something that was unexpected. The two clans never got along, but it seemed Naruto was the exception.

For the past three and a half years, he was sent on a reconnaissance mission through the entirety of the continent. Every country was looked at. Since some of them also began forming ninja villages, as well as seeking out potential countries to open trade with. Every so often, he was sent to assassinate people. Take out encampments around the village. Most of the time, Yune was sent out to collect information from Naruto that he'd gathered since he had his dog companion to help track the whereabouts of Naruto. Shikazu and Choku also would help in some raids. Tobirama came personally twice. Other than that, he worked alone most of the time. Before returning to the village though, he had a stop to make. An old friend that hadn't been seen in a long time. Walking through the ravine, Naruto had not activated his eyes. In fact, he left his weapons at the top hidden away. Stopping, he felt a gust of wind before two red eyes opened in the darkness.

"Hello, Kurama." Naruto said smiling a little.

"You've grown up, boy. How's it been?"

"Was rough for a little while. We managed to form the village with that clan I told you about. Many of the other rival clans joined as well. As for how things are now, I'm not sure. I haven't been there in quite some time, sent to journey around the countries."

Kurama nodded as he came into view. "I see you've brought no weapons."

Naruto shook his head. "I have no interest in fighting my friend."

Smiling Kurama leaned down, resting on his arms. "Oh? Is that so?" He'd already sensed within Naruto so it didn't matter what was said. There was no hiding what he knew. "You still carry a darkness, but that is true with all humans. You've overcome the eyes' influence."

Naruto smiled and sat down in front of Kurama. "I'm not entirely sure how, honestly. But I'm happy to not be controlled by the thoughts these eyes conjured up...I can't quite say the same for Madara though, the last I saw him."

"I know. Let us catch up." With that, the two spoke for hours on end. Laughing ever now and then while telling tales of what had transpired over the four years. The way Naruto spoke about Tobirama made Kurama smile. He could tell that Naruto was anxious to return, wanting to be reunited with her. Hashirama really didn't seem like how he was described through these stories. Back when Naruto was younger you'd imagine something a bit different. However it was entertaining at least. When Naruto stood to leave, Kurama stood as well, stopping Naruto. "As promised for if you came back still you."

"You don't have to give me anything, you're my friend. That's enough."

"Then consider it a token of our friendship. One that will last even after you're gone. For the friendship will extend to the new family you will have one day. So long as you have this, so long as we remain friends, I will always look after your descendants."

Naruto quirked an eyebrow at that and watched as a burst of smoke happened. Once it cleared, a black scroll was before him. Red engravings with the kanji for fox on it. Looking up at Kurama he gasped. "Is this?"

Smirking, Kurama nodded. "This is the summoning contract for that of my kin. Long ago, I took in some fox younglings. No parents because they were dead. I took them to a land I created for them to be safe, to grow. Through exposure to my chakra, they changed into something more. Gaining conscience, no longer just instinct. They grew larger, stronger, faster. I taught them to talk, use the chakra they now had. Soon they began mating and their young were even more talented with the skills I was giving them. Some became capable of nature release, they will be your ally. The ally to your children, and your children's children."
