KS thought 'was this how the first test of class 12 was supposed to go, for the year she had dreamt to perform well? If this continues, what about the promises she made to her Noor di? That they both would join police force'.
She felt messing it all up when her chain of thoughts were broken as she discovered a hand on her shoulder. She turned back to find ammi there with brim eyes.
SM (in mind to herself): sahi hi kehti hai Haseena, ye bilkul humari Karishma ki yaad dilati hai
SM: Karishma beta (KS turned and hugged SM and SM sat beside her)
KS: ammi dekhiye na jiji itna sa baat pe kitna gussa ho Rahi hai
SM: acha ek baat bata, terko pata hai na board exams vala saal important hota hai
KS: haan ammi
SM: aur tera class 12th start hue, kitna time ho gya?
KS: 1-1½ months
SM: aur tera syllabus... Shuru bhi nahi hua na
KS bowed her head... Now she was feeling guilty
KS: h.. hum.. hum late join kiye na ammi
SM (cupped KS's face): par bacha exam toh tumhara sabke saath hi hoga na, toh cope up toh karna padega na
KS: par
SM: par var nahi, ye time hai cope up karne ka aur Haseena Teri fikar karti hai aur isliye terko sudhar rhi hai na... Ki tu aise time waste na kare, Varna baad mei regret karegi
(SM started remembering HM and her daughter KS)
KS: jii ammi, aap sahi keh rhi hai, hume jiji ki baat manni chahiye
SM: bilkul, vo tujhme usko dekhti hai (still in her thoughts)
KS: kisko
SM came out of her thoughts and realised what she just said
SM: Umm... Ek ek ache aur capable insan ko, jiska acha potential ho, vaisa insan dekhti hai vo tum mei... Hum.. hum aise aa rhe the
KS: ohh acha (KS wasn't much convinced with SM's answer but she decided to ignore SM's fumbling and focus on the situation for then)
KS: ammii, aap fikar mat kijiye, hum Punishment puri karke jiji ko mana lenge
SM: shabashh mera bacha... Chalo ab mai niche jaati hu, merko thoda kaam hai
SM went downstairs to meet the people and students. Meanwhile KS completed her punishment and did the situps.
After a while, in the afternoon:
SM and HM returned to the room from different places, they had just met after the morning incident where HM was scolding KS. HM did not acknowledge SM as she was still angry with SM as she had taken KS's side. They both went in the room and it was empty
HM: ye KS kaha hai? Aur vo aise gate khula chodhke kaise jaa sakti hai
SM: gate khula reh gya hoga beta, aur vo Riya Khanna naam ki kisi studeny ke room mei gyi hai, bol rhi thi ki tune koi assignment diya hai, vo complete karna hai saath mei
HM: humne diya toh tha, par iska matlab ye nahi ki use aise laparwahi karne ka license mil gya ho.. ye ladki bhi na... Huff...
Meanwhile in the attached washroom of the room KS chuckled silently
(Ji, kahani mei twist, KS washroom mei thi)
SM sat on the bed and called HM to sit beside her
KS(in mind to herself): thodi der yahi rukte hai, fir jiji ko bhau krke darayenge... Hehe (giggled)
Outside in the room, SM sat on the bed in half lying position, and took HM's head in her lap and caressed her hairs as she spoke softly to her (the conversation was clearly audible to KS)
SM: tu Karishma mei apni chutki ko dekhti hai na... Apni sh
HM (interrupted): ammi usko vo sirf hum bula sakte hai
SM: haa haa, zarur... Par tu sach bata... Tujhe Karishma mei vo dikhti hai na
HM: nhi, nhi ammi... ye aap kaisi baatein kar rhi hai
SM: ammi hai hum tumhari, jaante hai tumhe, itne saalo se tum is field mei ho, itne bacho se deal kiya... Par kisi ke saath bhi KS jitna strict bartav nahi kiya... Na hi itna jyada pyaar kiya... Aisa toh tu sirf apni chutki pe karti thi na, kyuki Tera haq tha... Aur yaha bhi hai haq, mai mana nho kar rhi, par yaha baat alag hai na (she took a pause, calmed herrself and continued) tujh... Tujhe usme dikhti hai na vo?
KS (in mind to herself): ama kon vo vo... Ye kya baat kr rhe hai ye log... Hum sune kya? Par ye galat ho jayega
KS was battling with her thoughts meanwhile she heard HM's voice which was heavy, it seemed as if she was sobbing
HM (sobbing): haan ammi, dikhti hai... Hum... Hum samajhte hai ki sab Karishma naam ki ladkiya humari behen nahi ho sakti par isme hume uski parchai dikhti hai... Iski... Iski harkatein bilkul uski tarah hai... Chhoti chhoti chize ammi, hume uski yaad dilate hai
Aajke liye bas itna hi...
