THE START OF 8th grade was the perfect opportunity for jaizen to show up as a changed girl, having looked back at 7th grade and replaying all those awkward, embarrassing moments she would say or do. she wasn't pretty, but she wasn't ugly either. just average. she tends to overthink a lot, but she strongly despised her 7th grade self and everything that happened.
last year in school, she managed to make friends with maya ishii-peters and anna kone. they were a fun trio, but jaizen knew maya and anna were a lot more closer due to them knowing each other longer, so most of the time she felt like the odd one out.
that wasn't the only thing, though. a certain 'popular' boy called dustin took an interest to her character. not because he wanted to gain anything from her, unlike most of the time, but because he found her..cool to talk to. it was refreshing compared to all the conversations he had with brandt, alex, or the rest of the 'popular' girls.
and by talk, they only shared two conversations in math.
they both found it unusual. jaizen thought she was just another one of his bullying victims, but all he wanted was to get to know her a little better.
but unfortunately, he still had a reputation to uphold. and what was even worse, was that poor little jaizen had fallen a target to him and his friend's taunts. he let his arrogance and desire to fit in get in the way, completely destroying any chance of her thinking of him any differently than just a bully.
so, now that they're in 8th grade, will dustin manage to convince jaizen before it's too late? will he follow his heart or his reputation?
