With Killian Locke and the members of his pack that came with him all within Damien's pack custody, I could go back to work without another worry.

Damien had wanted me to stay home, which meant he wanted me to stay at his parents' house, which I said 'absolutely not' to, as I had already been there a week, and already started to feel like I was going insane.

I liked his parents, Elijah and Grace, but there was no privacy in a house full of wolves.

I liked my privacy, and when Damien liked to be very discreet and loud, it made it all impossible for me to not ignore the fact that just kissing Damien under his parent's roof was news to the whole household.

His brothers had teased me once already about it, and seeing the looks on their face after coming down the stairs, telling me they knew exactly what we were doing in his room, was enough for me to want to bolt out of there and go back to my apartment and back to work.

We're both technically engaged, but we haven't told anyone yet.

His parents instantly knew that he had marked me, as did his pack members, or... our pack members.

Since the crash, everything has been such a blur that it feels like I'm walking within a dream with no end, and because of everything being hectic, I haven't had time to see, or talk to Auster or Aaron.

I was already on my way to work, I wanted to walk from my apartment, Damien only accepted it because he had something 'important' to do, which was a little suspicious, but I didn't ask into it, I was still getting used to the whole 'mate bond' thing.

I loved being around Damien, but he was always with me, so a little time apart, if only for an hour, it was needed, the man was sex on legs, but he was surprisingly bossy and needy.

I made it to work, it was scorching hot outside at eight in the morning, and it was only going to get hotter, I was on lifeguard duty today on the beach, so I definitely wasn't looking forward to spending all morning in the heat.

"Hey girl." I hear a voice behind me, making me turn around.

It was Tessa. "Oh, Hi." I smiled as she came up to me, her brained hair tied in a high ponytail.

I couldn't believe Tessa was a werewolf, nobody would suspect a thing, same with Damien and Auster, they are totally human apart from the ability to change into a beast.

"Looks like we're together today." Tessa said as I laughed at her face, clearly not happy with the heat.

So, it's not just Tessa that didn't like the heat.

I was starting to think that werewolves just didn't like the heat, I get the sense Damien disliked it too, despite working with fire for years, I noticed he liked to be under the shade a lot.

"It's almost punishing that today is this hot, I might actually die." I joke, making Tessa's face fall.

Did I say something wrong? "Not literally die." I said, smiling as we both walked into the swimming centre, both heading the same way to the lockers.

Tessa was quiet all the way to the lockers, so I decided to just not say anything else, wondering if I said something to upset her, or perhaps my joke just wasn't funny, given how I did almost die, not just once, but twice now.

"Aelia?" Tessa says my name, making me turn once I open my locker and put my clothes inside.

"I just... I wanted to say sorry, I never meant to deceive you." She said, biting her lip as her eyes looked down.

Deceived? "I... I'm sure the Alpha told you about the rules... not allowing to reveal our truth selves, but either way I wanted to just say that I'm glad it's you that is our Luna, you're going to kick ass, and I hope we can be friends... if you want to, no pressure if not." She said, mumbling nervously, as she then turned and grabbed her kit from beside the locker.
