Brandy's POV

"Alright, give me the details of what exactly happened up there." Vander said as we left the bar, going to Benzo's shop. Vander passed me some basic bandages as we walked, and I did my best to tie my hands on the move.
Claggor explained everything, the route, the plan, the execution, the explotion, and the getaway. Everything in as much detail as he could so Vander knew what truly happened. Nothing left out, and nothing changed in the slightest.
By the time we got there, Vander was completely filled in. The sign that marked my home brought comfort every time.
Since Benzo saved me and Ekko, we've lived with him, and he has sheltered us from everything.
Vander told Claggor to watch the door. "Nobody comes in."
We walked through, and I ran straight to my room, giving Ekko a pat on the shoulder as I went past, to grab the proper stuff i needed to treat my cuts. Running back into the front room, I give Benzo the kit, and he starts to treat me as he talks with Vander.
They questioned our reasonings. Our way of thinking. We were younger, and we thought differently. Vander told of the guy who followed us, and they wondered about his motives.
"There's worse things than enforcers out there."
That shocked me, I knew there was more than the enforcers but never of something worse than them.
Benzo finished with my cuts, and I left with the kit, putting it away in my room. And as I was coming back, the enforcers came through the door. I gasped and hid round the corner.
They were looking for us. No thanks to the ruckuss that occurred.
"Some trencher trash attacked one of the buildings in the Academy District, but you already knew that."
"We're looking for the culprits."
"Got a description?" Vander asked politely.
"Yeah, it's exactly who you're picturing in that thick head of yours." He was rude. There was no need to be. He obviously was just prejudiced due to us being from The Undercity.
Vander and Benzo joked about the comment. They laughed at their sarcasm and mocked one another ironically. But the laughter didn't last long.
"Listen here, you shady son of a -"
"How about you go for a little walk, Marcus? Cool off a bit." She was reasonable, and he listened. All signs pointed to her being higher in the ranks than him.
He walked out the doors, thankfully not taking the order to walk around the place.
They spoke with the woman more, speaking about the other man and the situation that was caused. Things like who was hurt and what happened. They wanted to inprison someone. Make people feel safe. But we were only kids. Who would go for us?
"We had a deal, Vander. You keep your people off my streets, and I stay out of your business. Give me a name. We'll do things quiet. No one will know you were involved."
He wouldn't. He refused. She tried to push and made a point to try to make him feel stupid. You dont seem to grasp how serious this is, things like that. She spoke of bringing an army with her next time. All to find a name or two and put a few kids behind bars. It wasn't fair.
He still wouldn't. Yet still, she gave him an option for if he changed his mind. She left without another word, and when the door shut, I came out from my spot.
"What will happen?"
Benzo walked up to me and put his hands on my shoulders. "I'm not sure. But whatever the outcome, stay safe and keep Ekko safe too. You need rest."
"Alright. Where's Little Man?"
"He was outside, but I assume he'll be on the roof as the enforcer left."
"I can get him before I sleep."
"No, go rest. I'll call for him in a moment."
"Okay. Goodnight Benzo, Vander."
"Night kid."
I left for my room. All I could think about was time and how that would've affected things. If Bridge Battle hadn't happened, would we be safe? Would the enforcers leave us alone? Would I have met Vi? Fought the fights I have? Met the people I have? And felt the way I do? Did.
