"I took a look at your files. There's no record of either of you or your crimes. What are you here for?"
"My sunny personality." Vi taunts lady, veering closer then further away from the bars, I stay put.
"And you?"
"My amazing good looks."
"You attacked an inmate. Why?"
"Why not?" Vi couldn't be bothered, she paces around the cell.
"If you can't be bothered, stand still." I say, now understanding why she hates my daily pacing.
"Get it now?" She raises her eyebrows sarcastically. She walks up to me, resting her head on my shoulder, being slightly shorter than me, she could do it easily.
"He was a witness in an ongoing investigation." From the back wall, the lady looks slightly frustrated at our attitude.
"Bummer." Vi mumbles from my shoulder. I raise my eyebrow at the woman.
"This was a waste of time." She begins to walk away and I roll my eyes.
"Couldn't have put it better." I say through my teeth.
Vi looks up from my shoulder and turns to face the door, I drape my arms around her waist lightly.
"Hey give Silco a kiss on that winning eye of his, will you?"
I chuckle at her words and put my face into the crook of her neck, bending down slightly to do so.
The lady walks back and I look up rolling my eyes again.
"Silco? The industrialist?"
"Ok, this is getting old." I mutter.
"Can you just send in whoever's gonna kick the shit out of us, so we can get on with our night?"
She hesitates before she steps closer to the door and I look to her with intrigue.
"Does this mean any thing to you?" I try to look at the page she's holding but some things are blocked by the bars.
But Vi sees something. She runs to the bars and grabs them tightly. I run up behind her to ask what's wrong but then I see it, grabbing the bars as well.
A drawing, just like the one Powder used to do, of a monkey.
The lady gasps at our presence at the bars and steps back for a moment.
"Where did you get this?" Vi asks quickly. The lady sighs and steps back to us.
"My question first. He worked for Silco?"
"Uh, they all do. How can anyone not know that?" I answer so Vi can ask again.
"Where did you find this?" There was more urgency in her voice this time, I know she misses Powder. There would be nights where the two of us would cry over our siblings, worried for them.
"There was an attack. This is evidence. I need proof if I'm to believe what you're saying about Silco."
We both sigh and lean more casually against the bars. Vi scoffs heavily and I roll my eyes.
"We could get it for you. Just not from in here."
"Doesn't only one of you need to go?"
"That's not how we work, sunshine." I give a smug smile.
"In what mad world would I trust someone like either of you?"
"Someone like us?" I raise my eyebrows bitterly, scoffing.
"You enforcers are all the same. Just asshole criminals in fancy uniforms." Vi says angrily, furrowing her brows.
"You know what? Find Silco yourself." I walk away from the bars of the door and go lean on the back wall.
"I will, thank you." The lady finally walks away.
Violet hums, letting go of the bars and leaning on them instead. "Undercity's gonna eat you alive."
Vi walks over to me hugging me. We sit down on the floor and rock back and forth. Something we've always done to calm one another down. Ever since that day.
"She was wierd."
"All enforcers are. I wonder why she had Pow's drawing."
"She said evidence. What would Powder have to do with the attack? Do you think... that..."
"She can't be... Can she?"
A cane could be heard with footsteps and we get up and ready ourselves for what we know is coming.
But it's the lady. Now I acknowledge her blue hair and eyes. She has sharp features and is quite pretty. She sighs, walking away and leaving the door open.
We look to each other with wide eyes before following her out.
