Two hours after the letter's arrival, Selene reached the common meeting place near Aldis's house. Although Selene had revealed her identity to some of her guild's members, she still preferred to use the shed beside Aldis's house. This was for two reasons. One, because this way she could hide her identity more effectively and two, because it was way nearer to the dutchy compared to the guild which was deep into the capital market, and it took quite some time to reach there.
Selene looked around in the shed as she waited for the guild members to come. Initially she had thought that Aldis was just a poor commoner boy who achieved glory later as his talent was discovered as it was described in the novel. But the more she visited the more she felt that the house was not just a commoner's house.
Just like it's outward appearance, the inside also looked quite rundown, with furniture here and there and cobwebs stuck in the chandelier hanging from the roof. Yet if one looked carefully, the quality of these dust ridden furniture was definitely not bad and the number was not small either.
It was quite strange to see things of such standard to be in the house of a poor boy who worked hard to make the ends meet everyday.
But Selene did not ask Aldis about this, everyone had their own secrets, and she was not the one to poke her nose in it as long it does not pose any threat to her.
Maybe he came from an aristocratic family which had fallen so hard that they only had this house and few expensive furniture and him who worked hard to keep it.
While looking around she played with a small glass ball which she was holding. Anna who was standing behind her looked curiously at it, it was the same ball Selene was holding when she had called Isla.
Selene kept rolling it around until she accidently tapped on the blue coloured pearl on it. Immediately the ball lit up and words rang in the air-
[- knows about this... But even if you know you can't do anything! Even if you search the whole mansion, you won't find anything against me!]
Selene again tapped the blue coloured pearl again and the ball returned to its original state. Then she put it back inside the purse she had brought with her. Anna who was surprised to hear Isla's voice from the ball asked-
"Milady is that-"
"Yes, It is the prototype of the new mana device I am developing with Henriette, called sound recorder." She had thought that it would be good to test it on Isla and she would also have direct evidence if Isla ever made a move in the future. But this plan was already destroyed with Isla's death along with all the other plans Selene had for her.
"Did you record it as evidence? But wouldn't it be nothing if the source is not verified? After all this is a device only milady knows." Anna pointed out the problem of this evidence.
"I know, I figured that too. I just need a well-known establishment to verify it as well as the other devices that are developed to solve this issue." Selene replied.
"Then, wouldn't the magic tower be best?" Anna asked confused why she wasn't thinking about the magic tower.
"Hm, but not anyone can approach the magic tower, not to mention get them to verify mana devices." Selene said.
It would indeed be best if the magic tower backed the production of the new mana devices, but she didn't know how to reach out to them. Then a face came to her mind, and she sat up -
"Right! Mr Val, isn't he from the magic tower? Maybe he can be of some help." Selene immediately started thinking of ways to bring this up to Val.
A series of knocks were heard on the door. Selene signaled Anna to open it and the door revealed four people dressed in black.
