Note #1: Moral of the next few chapters: don't be sleep deprived.
Oh, how she regretted saying that. Now, with each step, each scribble, each blink desperately trying to prove a point she could easily take back, Clover is now trying to muster up all her energy and stay up for as long as she can.
These sleep deprived moments are not uncommon for her. Usually, she stays up for extensive research. This is all by choice. Nobody is forcing her to stay awake. Even her family tells her it's unhealthy, but alas, she's stubborn.
"Clover? Clover? Clover!" Koki waves her arms to get her attention.
"What? What! Huh?" She frantically turns her head before tiredly focusing her gaze on Koki.
"I said do you want to go and explore with the others?" She points her thumb at the door.
"Uh huh..." Clover sways back and forth.
"Are you sure? You don't really look...alert."
"I'm always on my feet. To the for-forest we go," Clover grabs her journal and shuffles her feet out the door, wobbling as she walks down the ramp, eventually catching up with Chris, Martin, Aviva, and Jimmy.
"Clover! You're just in time. Hey, are you feeling okay?" Martin walks up to Clover, who's nodding off.
"Huh—wha? Yeah..."
"I told you you should've slept," Aviva sighs.
"You're not my mom, haha."
"I'm your friend. And as your friend, I want you to go to take a nap," Aviva shakes her shoulders, then sets up a hammock in a tree, stretching her arms to show it.
"If she doesn't want to rest there, can I?" Jimmy Z jumps in. Aviva glares at him, making him back away. "No? Okayyy. Got it, got it."
"Ahhh, let him sleep there," Clover flings her arm, letting it drop by her side.
"Really?!"
"No!" Aviva and Koki deny.
"I agree with Aviva. Why did you stay up?" Martin asks.
"FOR NATURE!"
"I thought you were looking at the moon?" Chris says.
"FOR THE MOON!"
Martin takes Clover's journal and flips to the most recent page. She realizes her journal isn't in her arms and takes a step forward.
"Hey! I didn't tell you can do that."
"Oh, sorry. Can I look at your drawings of the moon?"
"Yeah, sure," she waves her hand.
He observes the pages. The others hover over him and take a look, too.
"This is actually very poetic, Clo—" Aviva glanced up. Clover is nowhere to be found. "Clover?"
"Not again!" Chris and Martin exclaim.
"We should really give a Creature Pod," Koki places her hands on her hips.
"I'm on it," Aviva walks back to the Tortuga.
"Wait. Really?"
"I wanted to make her one for a while. She has potential. I know it," she nods before going back to her inventing station.
Meanwhile in the distance, Zach spies on the group from his airship and watches Aviva walk inside. He takes a closer look at the new girl.
"Is that really the Clover Hallows?! What is she doing with people like the Wild Rats?" He exclaims, searching up her name. "When she should be working for me! Think about it," he snaps his fingers and summons a Zachbot. "With the help of Hallows Floral Decorum, I'll create—! Wait, what do the Hallows create?" He researches the business. "Various floral arrangements? Hmm, I guess I could customize my Zachbots to smell better? No, no, that sounds lame."
