Chapter Ten - Tech and Tulips

Clover was determined to cheer Chris up. Martin tagged along. Chris had been avoidant of the two since this morning. They didn't like that. Maybe it was because he didn't think of an animal he wanted to see just yet, but there was already a plan to fix that.

A few more hours pass and he still hasn't been in the mood to Creature Adventure. This is more severe than the blue and honorary green duo thought. The rest of the crew took notice of his behavior as well. Collectively, they were concerned.

Clover walked up to Chris, who walked right past here, stopped in his tracks, and sighed.

"Chris?"

"Martin. Let's go on a Creature Adventure."

"Where?"

"There's still more things I want to check out before we leave," Chris exits the Tortuga with Martin following behind. He turns to the rest of the crew who's just as confused as they are.

They just give him concerning looks and let the bros go, frowning. Clover walks outside and enters her RV. The others follow her and admire the interior.

"Nice place you got here," Koki steps in.

Clover whips her head around. She definitely wasn't expecting the others to follow. When she heard the others' voices, she got startled, but later calmed down realizing who it was.

"Oh—yeah. That's Dandy for you," she says proudly. The others look at her in confusion. "The-The Dandelion Driver? My nickname? Dandy?"

"Ohhh," they murmur.

"Haha," she laughs along, mildly embarrassed. "Anyways, uh, welcome to my mobile abode."

Jimmy opens her fridge.

"Jimmy!!" Koki raises her voice, startling him.

He slowly closes it. "Sorry!"

"It's fine," Clover lies. "I wasn't expecting more people to enter, so, sorry if there's not much space."

"No worries! We can help with that," Aviva speaks up.

"What?"

"If you want, we can make improvements. Let's see..." she walks around. "A huge desk right here, a large monitor over there, I can make this into a mini Tortuga in a matter of...weeks?" She estimates.

Clover is very hesitant. She only paid her RV off a year ago. What if she accidentally (or purposely) damages something? Clover can sue, right? Maybe she should've listened to Iris' exceedingly, more-than-average business lectures after all. This topic would've covered the basics of law. Iris' goal isn't to be a lawyer, but if she wanted to, she could.

On the other hand, Clover has an odd sense of instantaneous trust towards Aviva in addition to Koki and Jimmy Z. Maybe it was because simply being inside the Tortuga was enough proof for her to see what she can truly do? Or seeing the Creature Power Suits in action. Not to mention how she still wants to ask questions about how her new Creature Pod works.

"I'll give you however long you need," Clover eventually agrees.

"You won't regret it!" Aviva grabs her tools and politely shoves Clover, Koki, and Jimmy step out of the RV. Sounds of construction can already be heard.

"I can't believe I got kicked out of my own RV."

A few hours later:

Koki and Jimmy (but mainly Koki) helped Clover learn how to use her Creature Pod. It was more complex than she thought, but she got the hang of it eventually. Chris and Martin return and approach Clover. Martin nudges his brother's shoulder and steps back. Koki and Jimmy give the two some space.

"I'm sorry for avoiding you all day."

"Oh. I didn't really think you were, but, um, thank you," Clover continues tapping buttons on her Creature Pod.

"There's still something else I want to say," he lowers Clover's hands, making her look back at him. He grabs something from his pockets; a carved statue of a tulip.

"I helped him make it!" Martin cheerfully adds.

Clover puts her Creature Pod in her pockets and holds the statue, admiring it. She looks at the bottom and sees the bros' carved message. 'Made by CK & MK. For CH.'

She grins and pulls Chris into a hug. "You have no idea how much I love this! Thank you so much!"

Martin comes from behind and brings the two into a giant bear hug, crushing their bones.

"Ack—! Thank you again, Martin!" Clover says in between breaths.

Clover stands by the wall monitor and sets up this digital journal feature Aviva set up. She can transfer all her existing journal pages in addition to starting new journals.

"Now this is the best thing I ever got!"

"Hey!" The bros overhear.

"In technology!" Clover laughs. "How's Aviva doing with those improvements to my RV, by the way?"

Aviva walks inside and enters the cockpit where Jimmy is currently sleeping.

"Jimmy. Jimmy!" She loudly whispers and shakes his shoulder. He continues to snore.

"The avalanche isn't uploaded yet..." he sleep talks.

Aviva sighs exasperatingly and whispers again. "Jimmy, if you don't wake up on time, your controller will be lost in a cavern."

Jimmy jolts awake and frantically looks around before realizing his controller was in his arms the whole time. He gently snuggles it on his face and kisses it, gaining a confused look from Aviva.

"Let's fly somewhere else. I think we've had enough forest adventures for one day," she laughs. "Besides, I want to bring my latest renovation with me."

"Did you ask Clover about it?"

She snaps her fingers. "That's what I was forgetting," she walks back to the main area and approaches Clover.

"Clover, do you mind if we put your RV in the garage so I can work on it while we travel?"

"Only if I get to come along," she jokes. Aviva and Koki laugh along with her. "But sure thing! There's no way I'd abandon Dandy."

Aviva opens the Tortuga's garage and Clover backs up. She can't see any of the progress because of a large tarp hanging from the ceiling, blocking her view unless she walks through it. She's tempted to, but she doesn't want to ruin the surprise.

Aviva secures the RV, giving Clover a thumbs up as the two enter the main area again. "We're all set."

"Where are we going, anyways?" Clover asks.

"We've been on land for so long," Martin pops up behind her, startling her.

"I think it's time for—!" Chris appears on the other side.

"A deep-sea Creature Adventure!!" Chris and Martin cheer, raising one of each of Clover's hands in the air.

"Yes! And maybe I can modify Clover's RV for ocean travel. Or air travel? What about both?!" Aviva excitingly wraps an arm around Clover's neck, bringing her close.

"So, what do you say?!" The three directly ask Clover.

"The deep sea, hm?" Clover ponders. "I was never really interested in the ocean, but I do like coral reefs. I consider them the ocean's garden."

"Then have we got something to show you or what? Let's get going!" Chris happily takes her hand and spins her around.

She loved seeing him and the rest of the crew so eager and ready to learn about different environments, ecosystems, and species. There was something about him that made stand out from the rest. Maybe it's because of the fact he wears green so much, Clover thinks of him as a stem of a plant or a reverse tree. She laughs to herself at these silly thoughts and smiles at him. He loves making her happy.
