I watched the news intently the next morning, my coffee cup tightly gripped in my hand as Nubbins sat next to me. He noticed my intent look and gently placed a hand ontop of me

"Hey, just relax, it's okay"

I took his advice and took a breath my body relaxing but I immediately tensed again as a picture of the dead man showed up on the screen and I finally tuned into the words

"John Collins didn't show up to work this morning and his wife reported that he didn't come home the night before either. If you have any information on the whereabouts of Collins the Sheriff's office asks that you report it to them."

I paused and looked at Nubbins, he was giving me the same look

"He was right in the open"

I said and Nubbins tried to reason.

"Maybe it was too dark?"

"You couldn't get out of that alley without stepping over him, someone had to have seen him"

I was confused that he was reported missing because there was multiple patrons left in the bar when I left and all of them would have seen his body when leaving the bar. My nerves were shaking and I almost screamed when my phone went off. I took a breath and walked over to the phone as Nubbins listened to more of the report.

"Hello"

I said as I picked up the phone and a cheery voice filled the line

"Hey hun, want to come in a little earlier for you shift tonight so I can show you a few things"

It was Thomas, with the way he spoke it seemed like he didn't even know that John was missing and I was more than confused now. I paused for a second before speaking

"Um yeah sure, I'll be there"

"Great, see you then"

He said before quickly hanging up. I pulled the phone away from my ear and took a breath. What the hell is going on

~~~~~
Obviously Nubbins didn't want me to go into work again but that seemed far too suspicious and he finally agreed after I told him he could sit at the bar with my during my shift. I decided on a pair of tight jeans and a cropped top especially after noticing how much easier it was to grab my freshly cleaned knife from the pocket of these pants. As we turned the corner to the alley we both stopped. The body was nowhere to be seen and the blood faded into the pavement as if it was never there in the first place. We both looked at each other before we slowly walked into the bar. Thomas was already making a few drinks as I walked behind the bar and Nubbins took a seat infront of me. Thomas walked over and threw something at me. I caught it and he spoke
"You forgot your purse in the locker last night"
He said and I looked in my hand to see the key. Almost reaching for my bra as if it would still be there. I froze and he gave me a look before turning to take an order. I felt my breathing increase and rushed to the back to calm down. I unlocked my locker and leaned my head down trying to catch my breath but my locker slammed In front of me and I jumped, looking up to see Thomas standing infront of me
"What the hell happened last night?"
He whispered at me but his tone was firm. My heart rate was even faster now but I manged to steady my voice
"What do you mean?"
He glared at me and sighed
"I mean the dead body that I had to hide"
I stared up at him and he looked down at me. He leaned closer
"How do you think I got the key"
I finally broke
