Jaddu's POV:-

I woke up with a start as my phone started ringing loudly. I groaned as I threw my arm around, looking for the phone everywhere.

I held it up in my hand when I found it and squinted at the screen to see Akku's number displayed on the screen.

All the memories of this morning came back to my mind and I still refused to talk to her.

I silenced the call but I still stared at it till it stopped ringing as if waiting for a ticking time bomb to go off. I wanted to pick up and answer her but I just didn't want to do it right now. I still needed a little time.

Afterall, you can't just leave your bestfriend without so much as a goodbye and be back after 11 years hoping to make amends. It's not even like she told me who she was. She expected me to remember but that was not fair.

She had changed so much in 11 years. When we were kids she used to be chubby and cute. Now, she had grown into this beautiful woman who looked like she could get someone wrapped around her finger just by one smile.

As a kid she was an introvert and rarely talked to people around her. Now, she was someone whose presence no one could ignore.

I got up off the bed and thought about going for a drive to clear my mind. As I kept my legs on the floor and put my weight on them my knee buckled and thankfully I had the bed right behind me or I would have fallen straight to the floor.

I looked at it trying to examine what was wrong but ofcourse I was no expert.

I tried straightening it up and I winced at the sudden pain that shot through my leg.

My phone rang again and I moved my upper body to reach my phone to silence it when I saw that it was Virat calling so I picked up.

"Hey Jaddu, we have a team meeting in an hour. Will you be there?" Virat got straight to the point as the call connected.

"I.. I don't think I can." I was wincing and you could hear the hurt in my voice clear as day.

"What's wrong?" He asked instantly worried.

I cleared my throat before I continued. "Umm I think something's wrong with my knee. I can't stand." I confessed.

He let out a string of curses and I could hear Elize ask him what's the matter in the background.

"Where are you?" He asked sternly.

"Hotel room." I replied.

"I'm sending Akku there." He said in a manner which left no room for discussion.

"But.." I started before Virat spoke up again.

"No ifs and no buts Jadeja. We want you fit and soon. You can't go to just any doctor. The news of your injury will spread and we can't have that. Akku's trusted and I'm sure you both will keep your personal reasons aside for your profession." He interrupted me angrily before he took a deep breath and I knew it was Elize who calmed him down on the other side. "Listen Jaddu, you are like a brother to me and this is no minor thing. Something's wrong and I can't risk you alright? I know something's wrong between you both but think practically. I'm sure you can keep your differences aside for an hour or so." He continued much calmer than before.

I sighed loudly. I knew he was right so I agreed to him for meeting her. He cut the call after telling me to ice my knee and not put any weight on it.

I was sitting on the edge of my bed with my hurt leg sitting ramrod straight and my head in my hands. I was not ready to see Akku at the moment. I knew somewhere deep inside that she must have had a valid reason for leaving without a clue but I didn't know if I was ready to understand whatever she had to tell me. But it was not like I had any other option at the moment.

It had barely been two minutes when my phone rang with the screen displaying Akku as the caller. I picked it this time, knowing I couldn't run anymore.

"What happened? Did you fall? Are you alright? Stay at your hotel. I'll be there in five minutes. Don't move. You hear me...." She started shouting questions and then rambling and I could hear the hysteria and fear in her voice.

"A, calm down babe. I'm fine. It's something minor. I'm at my hotel. When you reach they will give you a spare key to my room and you can come right up and check me yourself. Now just take a deep breath and don't drive rash alright?" I said in a soothing voice. No matter what it was nice to see her care for me. So much so that I didn't even realise when I used her childhood nickname to address her.
