A New Beginning

Chapter 12: Sleeping Together

Jaddu's POV:-

We talked all evening, trying to catch up with the other's life while eating our dinner which we had ordered from room service.

She told me how she had reached this position. She had been top of her class in university, which could be seen in her professionalism. It did also help that she was the same age as us, so she could have easily mixed up with the team. With the board's new outlook on women and their involvement due to Elize, her selection was made even easier.

We exchanged stories about out private lives and she told me about all the guys who tried to hit on her and how she would put them down. Seeing her talk about that made me realise that she was surprised at being approached by the boys, as if she wasn't worth it. I wanted to tell her how much she meant but I decided to put it off for later.

I told her everything about my life after her, mostly stuff that happened behind closed doors as she already knew what the rest of the world did. She used to keep track of the happenings in my life since she left, not wanting to lose out on me.

After sometime a comfortable silence fell between as we stopped laughing about some childhood inside joke we remembered. I looked at her sitting beside me on the bed. There was barely any gap between out bodies and we still held hands.

She was looking down at out interlocked hands and she started playing with my fingers. She had a peaceful look on her face and it gave me immense happiness to see her like that. She was a very good person and she didn't deserve any of the problems she had to deal with.

A strand of her hair had escaped her ponytail and was grazing her cheek. I lifted my free hand and touched the strand to push it behind her ear. She looked up as soon as my hand rubbed her cheek slightly as if I have her a shock.

We looked at each other and the temperature in the room increased by a few degrees. I forgot how to breath and my hand stilled on her cheek.

She was looking right into my eyes and I felt myself getting lost in her dark set of mesmerising black eyes. They were pitch black and when contrasted with her fair skin, looked almost heavenly. Those eyes reminded me of the night sky and the sparkle that they held were like the stars.

I looked at those beautiful eyes for much longer than necessary. I averted my gaze to her lips and saw that her mouth was open and her lips were looking so soft that I practically kissed her there and then.

I closed my eyes tightly before I opened at her again. A was looking at me with the same expression as a moment before. Her face showed purity and curiousity. I felt a smile tug at my lips and I leaned into her face. I felt her stiffen next to me and she gasped softly.

I started moving towards her lips and her eyes shut involuntarily. I felt her grip on my hand tighten and I held her cheek by my other hand. She unconsciously tilted her head and pressed her face into my cheek.

I was so close to her and I could inhale her breath. It smelled like pepermint, probably from one of the bubble gums she was always chewing.

When my lips were almost touching hers, so close that had she moved hers or even spoken up our lips would have touched, I felt my resolve fade. I wanted to give in and kiss her right then but I couldn't. I reached up and kissed her on the forehead before sitting back in my place properly.

Her eyes were still closed and the confused and impatient look on her was so cute that I felt like kissing her cheeks. She slowly realised what had happened and opened her eyes. Her mouth opened and closed like a fish and I tried hard to control my laughter.

She gaped at me and now she looked annoyed. Before I could react I felt my face meeting with something soft. I winced slightly and when the thing was pulled back I realised that Akku had smacked me with a pillow.

She started hitting my arm and I started laughing. That aggravated her even more and she groaned before hiding her face in her hands.

I pulled those soft hands away from her face and made her look up at me.

"We can't have your first kiss be so normal and clickéd right? I promise it will be special." I spoke and I'm sure she knew that I was serious. Her expression turned grateful but she ignored me, instead she got up and started making a pillow wall between us.

"What are you doing?" I asked curiously.

"Making a wall between us so that we can sleep together." She replied as if it was obvious.

"You don't trust me?" I asked slightly hurt but then I smirked. "Or you don't trust yourself around me?"

She just looked up at me and I don't know what went through her mind but she just shrugged and removed the pillows from between us. She pulled me down carefully and gently before she lay down beside me.

There was a healthy distance between us, but I couldn't deny that it took me a long time to go to sleep that night knowing that Akku was sleeping an arm's length away from me.
