A New Beginning

Chapter 21

Jaddu's POV:-

Finally the Australian series was over after two months of a gruelling cricketing season. The Indian Team was a force to reckon with, especially at home and so we had won the series but quite expectantly the Aussies had put up a good fight going down 3-2 in the 5 ODI matches and 2-0 in the 3 Test matches.

We could all go back home and enjoy two weeks of freedom before we had to leave for a New Zealand tour for a month.

I wanted to meet Akku before I left for Jamnagar and so I decided to pay her a visit.

I knocked on her door and waited for a minute before Akku opened up. Her face lit up when she saw me.

"RJ! Come on in." She said and made way for me to walk in.

She led me to her living room and I sat on a sofa with her sitting beside me.

"Akku, as you know that the series is over." She nodded and started playing with my fingers. "So, I will be going back home. To Jamnagar. So I was thinking that maybe you would like to accompany me? Afterall it's your hometown too."

I looked at her and I knew she was thinking about it. After some time she looked up and said-

"I would love to visit Jamnagar again RJ. I really want to meet your family. I missed your sisters too you know."

I smiled at her and pulled her closer to peck her on her lips. When I was going to deepen the kiss, her phone rang out and I groaned while pulling back.

She looked at the caller id and told me she had to take it. She sat there and started talking to the person on the other end and I tuned her out. I checked my phone for any alerts and started replying to any messages that I had recieved. Some of them were from my sisters asking me to get something or the other from Delhi when I came back home, and some were from my teammates.

Some five minutes later she put the phone down and I could see that she was excited about something.

"RJ! Mom's coming to India tomorrow! I had told her about you and she decided to come and meet your family in Gujarat. She also wants to see our old house again." By now she was bouncing on the balls of her feet and even I felt as excited as her.

Aunty was someone who was always close to me and I had missed her alot. It would be a good experience to meet her and to have her family and mine together again.

"That's awesome Akku!"

I paused a moment as I realised something.

"But, there's a slight problem. I hadn't booked tickets because I had planned to drive all the way back home. I don't think we can get tickets this early or reach there within a day by driving." I explained.

Driving from Delhi to Gujarat usually took up two days with stop overs.

Her excitement faded a little.

"Oh well it's ok. I'm sure she won't mind. This is exactly why she should have not kept it as a surprise till the very last moment." She huffed and pouted. She looked so cute that I pulled her closer to me and kissed her on her lips.
