Monday

I shoved through the sea of students until I found the classroom I was looking for. Summer had ended, and it's the first day of school, so everyone is taking their sweet time getting to class. I follow another student into the classroom and sit down in a seat close to the window in the back row, I throw my bag onto the chair next to me, saving it for my best friend.

I look around, searching for her in the room and lock eyes with a really hot guy.

His brown eyes are beautiful, and he has a nice jawline.
He smirks at my staring, and I turn away from the pretty-eyed boy blushing.

Izzy walks into the classroom, looking around. When she spots me, she comes over and shoves my bag onto my lap with a big smile on her face.

"It's so good to see you. It's been so long." Izzy said.

"You're the one who went on a trip instead of spending the summer with me watching dramas." I said, teasing.

"Yeah, yeah, shut up." Izzy said laughing.

The teacher came in, and Izzy stopped laughing. The class quieted down. I set my bag next to me and took out my notebook and pens.

The teacher introduces himself as Mr. William. He talked about what we'd be learning this year.

While he's talking, Izzy leans over and whispers

"Did you read the Webtoons I told you about?"

"Yeah. I loved them." I whispered back.

"Isn't the male lead so hot? I didn't like him at first he was really rude and didn't treat her well, but now he's such a cutie, and he's so swe-" Izzy was cut off by Mr. William.

"I know summer break just ended and everyone's excited to see each other again but there is a time and a place to catch up and now is not the time and my classroom is not the place." Mr. William said.

When Mr. William turned to the board and started writing something the whispering picked up. Izzy leaned over to say something. Mr. William turned around facing the class.

"Okay, you know what new plan. This year, everyone is getting a new deskmate." Mr. William said.

Around the classroom, there was a chorus of "Come on." And  "Seriously?"

"I know incredibly lame of me, but I can't teach you if you're distracted by a friend, so everyone go and line up on the left wall." Mr. William said.

Everyone grabbed their things in disappointment and lined up on the wall. I spot the boy from earlier next to another hot boy. This one is a bit shorter than him. He has a strong jawline and brown hair. I spot Izzy in line already and grab my bag, joining everyone else against the wall.

"Okay, so new seating arrangement is as follows." Mr William said. I spaced out as he listed the order til I heard Izzys name.

"Izzy with Wooyoung in the third row second to last in the back. That leaves Y/N with Yunho. You guys sit in the back by the window." Said Mr William.

Wide-eyed, I turned and looked at an equally shocked Izzy. We stared at each other before looking at our new deskmates.

The boy I locked eyes with earlier had a small smile on his face.

"I'll let you choose the first chair." He said, walking over to our desk.

I blinked a couple of times before following after him. I chose the chair closest to the window. Setting my bag down next to me, I grabbed my notebook and pens again and set them down.

Yunho slid in next to me, setting his bag down and grabbing his things. I glanced at him out of the corner of my eye.

Has his jaw line always been that strong? His eyelashes are so long.

Why is it so warm? Am I nervous? I guess when you're sitting next to one of the hottest guys in school, that's normal.

He turned his head to look at me, and my attention snapped to the board. I grabbed my pen and pretended to take notes scribbling some random things down.

He leaned in a little closer and then asked "Hey I don't have any pens.' Could I borrow one?"

I looked at him, meeting his beautiful brown eyes again. I clumsily reached over and grabbed one handing it to him. His warm fingers brushed against my hand as he took it.

I turned to face the board and felt my face heat up. Yunho turned to the board, too.

"So I seem to have left today's lesson plan at home. So, to get it out of your system, talk to your deskmate about what you did over the summer. Not your friend who's sitting a few seats away from you, just your deskmate. If it gets too loud in here, everyone can just sit in silence for the rest of the class. Who knows, maybe you'll make a new friend." Mr. William said, sitting in his chair.

Everyone looked over at their new deskmates hesitantly. I slowly turned my head to Yunho. His eyes met mine.

"Hey." He said casually.

"Hi." I said.

"So what did you do this summer?" He asked.

"Not a lot. My best friend and I had plans, but her family went on a trip instead, so I mostly stayed inside watching TV or reading. What did you do?" I asked genuinely, curious.

Is he like all the high-school dramas where the hot boys only go to parties for the summer? Or maybe he spent the summer with his girlfriend.

"Working for the most part, but I did meet up with my friends sometimes." He said.

"I didn't know you had a job. Where do you work?"I said, surprised.

"At Owls Cafe." He said.

"That's a cute name. I haven't heard of it. Is it close by?" I asked.

"Yeah, it's two blocks down from the school. You should come by the cafe." He said.

"Yeah?" I asked, surprised at the invite.

"Yeah. The coffee is good, and the dessert is better." He said, smiling.

"You had me at dessert." I said, smiling. His face flushed a little, and he looked down at the desk.

The classroom got really loud, and Mr William stood up.

"Okay, what did I tell you guys? No one talks for the rest of the class, or I'm assigning homework on the first day." Mr. William threatened. A few people groaned in annoyance, and the class fell silent and stayed that way.

We all sat there like that for half an hour before we were saved by the bell.

I grabbed my bag and slid it on. Izzy came over to my desk and grabbed my arm, dragging me away.

Yunho watched in confusion as Izzy dragged me out of the classroom. Before he was out or my sight, I waved bye and he waved back.
