The rest of the week flies by, Friday approaching faster than I thought it would.

School hasn't been as bad as I thought it would be. I've already done some of the things we're learning back in France, so I can just get lost in my own mind without worrying about missing anything.

Levi invited me over to his house on Saturday to make a small start on the project. We both agreed that we'd rather start sooner than later so we won't have to cram it all in.

Mom and I started talking again on Wednesday. I understand she wants to help me, but I don't want to complain about my life to a stranger when it may not even fix anything. I'd rather get through my problems in my own way, even if my methods are ephemeral and unhealthy.

My thumb rests against the white dot on the traffic light, waiting for the green walking symbol to show up at the other side of the road. It's 3:45, and my interview starts at 4. I'm pretty much already at the shop, so I have a few minutes to spare.

Once the light turns green, I walk to the other side of the street and head towards the shop. From the corner of my eye, I spot Alejandro striding to the door as well. He notices me, his eyes immediately narrowing. He cannot still be mad that I rejected Davina's offer.

Regardless, he still pushes the door open for me as he enters, leaving it wide enough for me to catch so I can get inside.

He stops walking for a second and turns to me, that same look in his eyes still there. "I know that Davina can be assertive at times, but she means well, so don't talk like that to her again. If you wanted to tell her no, there was no need to be rude."

I cross my arms over my chest. "Maybe you should teach her not to be so pushy. I wouldn't have been rude if she wouldn't have asked me a question I already said no to," I reply, my tone cold.

His mouth opens slightly, but he sighs instead. "You are so lucky she'd kill me if I said anything else to you," he mutters, more to himself, before pushing open a door that has the words 'staff only' on it.

It's quite clear that Alejandro has a crush on her, and it seems to me like he's not trying too hard to hide it.

My eyes wander around the shop, observing the vinyls, cds and posters around the room. They even sell t-shirts from various shows and movies. There's a few customers inside, browsing through the stock.

After a few minutes, Mr. Pierce comes out, beckoning me to go into his office. I oblige and walk through the counters into the small office.

There's a desk at the end of the room, with an office chair on either side. The brown leather couch to my left is slightly tattered, the smell of coffee lingering in the room. He moved around the desk and takes a seat, pointing to the chair in front of him. "Would you like some coffee?"

"No, thank you," I reply, sitting in the cold leather seat.

"I looked through your resume," he begins. "It's quite impressive. You've worked in a record store before, yes?"
