Halloween, surprisingly, ended on a high note

Halloween, surprisingly, ended on a high note. My walk with Levi, where our hands remained intertwined until we reunited with the group, did its job to help calm me down. Levi had been right, too; my bracelet was on Davina's desk when we got back, causing the worry in my gut to simmer the second I laid my eyes on it and was able to put it where it should've been.

It didn't help me feel any less guilty, though. I never should've forgotten about it in the first place. I shouldn't be trying to forget her.

When I returned home, I didn't bother trying to tell Mom I hadn't drink anything. It's a high school party, so I felt she would've found it unbelievable if I said I hadn't drunk. She certainly wasn't impressed when I told her I drink a bit, but she was happy that I was surrounded by trustworthy people and that I hadn't gone overboard. I nodded at her words, trying not to let it show on my face that I lied about the amount I drank.

It's been two days since the party, and the main thing that's been on my mind is him.

Even as I'm scanning a customer's vinyl, giving her change and sending the somewhat sweet smile that I give every customer, I can't stop thinking about Levi. The feeling of his warm hands against my cheeks never seemed to fade. Every time I look down at my hand, I can almost relive the moment where he placed his hand in mind, taking me for a walk to help rid me of my somber thoughts.

Fuck, he's almost completely consumed my thoughts and I have no idea whether it's a good or bad thing. I promised myself I wouldn't fall for him when I first got to know him; I couldn't allow myself to hurt him with my past, but as the days go by, that sweet boy always does something that makes it harder for me to forget that promise.

The bell above the door rings, signalling another customer has walked in. My head snaps up, something that happens each time the door rings. I almost immediately regret looking up, my brows furrowing at the sight.

You have got to be fucking kidding me.

Sophia's brown eyes land on me, her scrutinising gaze eying my figure. I raise a brow at her, not caring about breaking the rule of being kind to the customers. She is the last person I'll give the benefit of the doubt. She rolls her eyes, her head slowly moving to my right. A scowl forms on her face immediately before her eyes even land on Victoria, who's standing behind the other toll beside me.

I turn to take in Victoria's reaction; she looks taken aback, her eyes widening at the sight of Sophia. She quickly recovers, her head tilting down to avoid Sophia. Her fists clench on the counter as Sophia walks to the back of the shop, seemingly looking at the wide selection of movies available.

I watch her retracting figure, my mind already scanning through the potential reason of their strange encounter. They clearly know each other, but don't seem to be particularly fond of one another.

I decide not to question Victoria. I may want to know how they know each other, but I'm not intrigued enough to find out. Victoria seems to not share the same idea that I have. "Do you know her?" she asks, her voice soft enough so that the customers in the shop can't hear.
