CHAPTER TWENTY
College
To study college in my dream university, with my dream course, that's what I want. I thought it would be too impossible for me because of our situation. But it wasn't. Instead, it became my strength to push through and continue.
"Hindi hadlang ang kahirapan natin para hindi mo makuha ang gusto mong kurso, Jasmin. Habang kaya pa namin, ibibigay namin lahat sa 'yo, para matustusan ang pag-aaral."
That was the word I heard exactly from my dad.
Siguro, isa sa dahilan kung bakit alangan pa akong kunin ang gusto kong kurso kasi alam kong hindi lang ako ang mahihirapan, pati na din ang pamilya ko.
But my father reassured me. My sisters also said that they will support me, all my finances. Since I'm the only one who's studying in our family, the pressure is there, since they wanted to have a member of the family who will graduate in college, but they didn't let me feel that.
Ang sabi nila, susuportahan nila ako hanggang sa abot ng kanilang makakaya. They believe in me, so I do believe in myself.

Kinakabahan ako pero ayos lang.
Early in that morning, that was his first message.
Today is our first day. Kinakabahan din ako pero hindi maiitatanggi na excited din. This is it. Our new journey will start.
To: Henrick
Ako din naman pero kaya natin 'to. Fighting!
Alas sais pa lang pero tapos na akong mag ayos. Based on my schedule, seven thirty is the start of my class, same as with Henrick. The thing is, he'll be out earlier than me. Alas tres pa lang kasi tapos na sila pero kami hanggang alas singko pa ng hapon.

Yes, goodluck to us. Kaya natin 'to. Hihintayin kita sa may gate. Ingat ka! I love you!
I looked at the mirror for the last time. I took a deep breath as I stared at myself.
Fighting!
Agad akong sumakay ng tricycle pagkalabas ko ng apartment. Mabuti na lang at hindi ganun kalayo ang school mula sa apartment. Less expenses for transportation.
Ramdam ko ang mabilis ba pagkabog ng puso ko. Well, I think being nervous is normal since this is new to me, a beginning.
Mula sa malayo, kita ko na si Henrick na tuwid ang tayo at palinga-linga sa paligid.
My lips immediately crept into a smile when our eyes met.
"Ready?" he asked with a smile.
Tumango ako. "Ready."
Hawak kamay kaming pumasok sa loob. We can immediately determine the freshmen since the upper level wear their uniforms. For us, all first year, we're allowed to wear civilian outfit until one month. Sa susunod na buwan, kailangan naka-uniporme na kami.
"Kinakabahan ako," bigla kong saad sa gitna ng paglalakad namin.
Narinig ko ang tawa niya. "Ako din."
We both laughed with that.
At dahil nalibot na namin ito nung nakaraan, naging madali para sa amin ang hanapin ang mga building.
We are now heading first to my building, Architectural building, since I'm taking up Architecture, my dream.
May mangilan-ngilan kaming nakakasabay. Ngumiti ako kahit sobra sobra na ang kaba.
